The new A. Lange & Sohne 1815 Up Down - Monochrome Watches
The number 1815 is a significant date in the history of A. Lange & Sohne. It is the year Ferdinand A. Lange was born in Dresden. The founder of the company began his apprenticeship with renowned watchmaker Johann Christian Friedrich Gutkaes. The brand today creates some of the finest?timepieces in existence. I make the?statement with some authority having?witnessed the craftsmanship first hand at?their Manufacture in Glashutte, near Dresden. Moreover, I am the proud owner of an A. Lange & Sohne 1815 in yellow gold with a tastefully restrained 40mm case.?Indeed, Mrs Davies also loves the German marque owning an earlier version of the 1815, presented in pink gold with a 36mm case. There would never be any question of us parting company with our beloved Lange timepieces.?I am happily married and always return home to the loving arms of my long-suffering wife. However, I am an alpha male and cannot deny I have noted the odd feminine ankle pass me by.Some men, as they approach middle
Bell & Ross Announces Its Partnership with the "Patrouille de France" - Monochrome Watches
It is no secret that Bell & Ross has a long history of military-inspired watches. From the earliest days of the brand, Belamich and Rosillo have made clear that pilots and their instruments were the foundation of the design behind most B&R models – such as the iconic BR 01. So much that these watches will end up on the wrists multiple pilots and elite forces. Following a couple of years focused on urban inspirations, the brand goes back to the roots in 2021, as it announces a partnership with France’s precision aerobatics demonstration unit, the world-famous Patrouille de France. A natural connection between two French entities.?Bell & Ross, a long-time partner of Squadrons, patrols and Special ForcesBell & Ross?was founded?in 1992 with?a shared vision of functional and tough watches. The idea was to create instrumental pieces, inspired by everything military - special forces, diving commandos, air-forces and field action in general. From the earliest days,
SIHH 2017 - IWC Da Vinci Automatic 40mm (Specs & Price)
As?Brice has already mentioned in our first Pre-SIHH 2017 coverage introducing the IWC Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar Chronograph, IWC has established a?tradition of?revamping an entire collection each year. We've seen this?practice happening over the past 4 years and this year is no different. It’s time for the Da Vinci collection to get an update, and one of the new models is this IWC Da Vinci 40mm Automatic. Farewell to the tonneau case, welcome to the round case. Farewell to the modern interpretation of the Da Vinci, welcome to the inspired-by-the-original Da Vinci. The original Da Vinci by IWC was designed by Hano Butscher with?the idea supposedly coming from Leonardo Da Vinci's Codex Atlanticus, which you would have already read about in the first article about the new collection. The original creation from 1985 is almost completely replicated, and not in a bad way might I add, by the 2017 collection, at least in terms of aesthetics. A round case and articulated lugs are the mo
Kickstarter Project: The super cool bullheads chronograph from Stuckx Watches - Monochrome-Watches
1970s… This decade?was an ode to creativity and to freedom – and sometimes also to bad tastes. At that time, Lamborghini launched the?Countach, the Bee Gees were singing Saturday Night Fever and?Georges Lucas shot Star Wars. However, we’ve also seen the arrival of psychedelic and?extremely coloured?wallpapers and?platform shoes. In terms of watches, there were some strange UFOs so-called the?bullheads, a sort of reverse chronographs with the pushers and the crown at 12. This look was ugly for some years, but they are now back in vogue and becoming cool again – and we found a solution to have new ones with great look, nice?movement and affordable price. It’s called the ‘The Bull’ by Stuckx?and it’s a Kickstarter project you really have to consider.“Stuckx?presents, a story so intense it produces?a watch too hard for this small screen: THE BULL“… Before starting explaining you about this watch, just take a look at this sho
What would you do? Potential investment? - Monochrome Watches
Last year Panerai introduced two Special Editions with a vintage Minerva movement; the?rose gold PAM00398 and the stainless steel PAM00399. These are Radiomir variations with more solid lugs and a a different crown, however with the recognizable cusion-shape case. Already during the SIHH it was clear that there was a small mistake, because “stainless steeel” was engraved with one too many e’s. A painfull mistake one might think, however this is also how they have been delivered to some customers! Yes,?again a?painfull mistake. However… maybe this mistake will turn out to be a good investment?
