Tonight, as every year, is the celebration of watchmaking, watchmakers and watches in general… It is the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Geneve (or GPHG 2020) – the Oscars of the watchmaking industry. Several categories are represented (ladies, men, complicated and even affordable watches) and the best watches of the year will be awarded the coveted Golden Hand prize – and of course, the prize we’re all waiting for, the “Aiguille d’Or” or the best of the show, celebrating the best watch introduced in 2020. Most days, you’ll catch me wearing a dive watch or a classic chronograph. This is what I most enjoy as a watch collector (yes, we are first and foremost watch fans at MONO). I like to wear watches that I don’t have to worry about, and I love a timepiece with some heft. Not necessarily a large watch (41mm would usually be my maximum), but a watch with a feeling of robustness, most of the time on a metal bracelet. With this in mind, you can imagine that the classic, thin dress watch isn’t an object that I often strap around my wrist. I enjoy seeing them worn, but not on my wrist. The brand is one of the main specialists in this field, with a full range of no-nonsense, robust and effective watches at reasonable prices.
