First Look: The new Sand Gold AP Code 11.59 Flying Tourbillon 38mm
Marking a first for the recently introduced 38mm iteration of Code 11.59, Audemars Piguet equips its most compact reference with an automatic flying tourbillon. Not just any tourbillon, mind you, but AP's ultra-thin calibre 2968, aka RD#3. Representing the best of both worlds, the new Code 11.59 Tourbillon fuses a state-of-the-art movement with a graceful sand gold case sparkling with diamonds.Tourbillon complications were relatively rare in Audemars Piguet's historical repertoire until 1986 when it launched the calibre 2870, the world's first automatic serially produced tourbillon. One of the lightest of its kind thanks to its titanium cage, calibre 2870 weighed just 0.123g and was also one of the thinnest (4.8mm) until it was surpassed by Bulgari's Octo Finissimo in 2018.The 2023 Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon Extra-Thin RD#3, fitted with the calibre 2968Celebrating the Royal Oak's 50th anniversary in 2022, AP produced an automatic flying tourbillon to fit in
Weekly Watch Photo - The Eadweard Muybridge Cinema Watch by Konstantin Chaykin - Monochrome Watches
Just the other day we bumped into the brilliant photo of Konstantin Chaykin’s Cinema Watch. When we told you about this watch before (click here) we told you our first impression was that it had of the shape and layout of a medium-format camera. So what better photo to start our Weekly Watch Photo with.Of course we already told you more about the Russian watchmaker Konstantin Chaykin. Our man in Shanghai, Mario?Squillacioti, met up with Konstatin during the AHCI event in his home town and sat down for a good talk. The result is a great overview of Konstantin’s creations (click here). And of course we told you about the Cartier Rotonde Mystery Watch that is so similar to Chaykin’s Levitas that he introduced a year earlier (click here). The 2021 Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional Master Chronometer
Today is Tuesday… and in terms of watches, you know what it means. Omega didn’t wait long in 2021 to bring its first novelty for “Speedy Tuesday” and, clearly, this is a very important one. Today, Omega updates its most iconic watch, a model that has been practically untouched since the late 1960s, with the current reference dating back to 1997. We, of course, talk about the Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional, the classic 42mm stainless steel reference with an asymmetrical case, the core member of the collection. Indeed, not a watch that can be updated without consequences. And here is the new?Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional, which introduces the Master Chronometer Co-Axial Calibre 3861 in a regular production Speedy, with small (but cool) visual updates and new iterations in Sedna and Canopus gold. The Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional, until nowWhile this article isn't the place to make the complete history of the Omega Speedmaster – for this, y
Weekly Watch Photo - Nautilus Chrono - Patek Philippe ref. 5980/1A - Monochrome Watches
Every time I see the Nautilus Chronograph, I have the feeling my knees get a bit weak and my vision gets a bit blurry (that means, everything around this watch gets blurry). A typical case and I plead guilty.End of last year I posted Bruno’s photo of his Patek Philippe Nautilus Chronograph or (for connoisseurs) the reference 5980/1A. In that post I wrote about my collection and how we sometimes seem to get our orders directly from a higher force. Because I don’t have the financial means to fulfill those orders I will keep posting other people’s photos of the 5980/1A. Ad - Scroll to continue with article Joe B. (or JeepRat on Timezone.com) posted some of his photos in the Patek Philippe forum over at Timezone and was so kind to let me share his photo of his beloved Patek. Writing about watches has its privileges, however it also has some serious
