Hands-On - The IWC Pilots Watch MARK XVIII Edition Antoine De Saint Exupery - Monochrome Watches
Today, we are going hands on with a special edition of possibly one of the most legendary pilot's watches of all time, or at the very least, one of the latest versions of it. Officially unveiled a few months ago, the IWC Pilot's Watch MARK XVIII Edition Antoine De Saint Exupery marks another addition to a long-line of military inspired models. It's not a new watch as such, but rather part of an update to the existing Antoine De Saint Exupery line, which includes two other models (a chronograph and a 36mm automatic ladies model). Like the standard Mark XVIII, it's nicely sized at 40mm and features a third-party movement to keep the price down. Read on for the details and of course, some nice live photos.IWC launched its very first pilot's watch, the Special Watch for Pilot's, all the way back in 1936. It was intended for civil aviation use and was very characteristic of the style at the time, with large, luminous Arabic numerals and a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o'clock. Arguably thoug

Old School - Girard-Perregaux's first Quartz - Monochrome Watches
Your mechanical watch? Obsolete, thing of the past, just trade it in for a nice new quartz watch and you will always be on time! Right now this sounds like an absurd proposition, especially to most watch collectors and connoisseurs, but in the early 1970's it was reality.Although Seiko was the first company to introduce a commercially produced quartz wristwatch on the market, the battle was still on in Switzerland for the position of runner up. Surprisingly it was not the Beta 21 joint venture (that included, amongst others, Omega, , Piaget and Patek Philippe), but Girard-Perregaux that was first. Ad - Scroll to continue with article Girard-Perregaux developed the movement in house, but with the help of some outside companies and experts. In the mid 1960's Georges Vuffray, an electronics expert, was contracted to develop a quartz clock that later was miniaturiz

Hands-on: Zenith El Primero Range Rover (Specs, Photos and Price) - Monochrome Watches
There's a common saying that car' guys are watch' guys. Behind this aphorism though is a real connection fueled by the love of fine mechanics, performance and passion. As a result collaborations between watch and car manufacturers have flourished - for the better or worse. Case in point, Zenith and Land Rover recently announced their first watch collaboration. Now regardless of what you think of such partnerships, you have to agree that this one stands out. For a start, Landrover is not just about performance and mechanics. Its go-anywhere, tow-anything cars are an expression of freedom - a philosophy that speaks to me more than turbo-charged engines. Secondly, the Zenith El Primero Range Rover is simply a superb (no-fuss) chronograph. Time for a hands-on look. The Zenith El Primero Range Rover is a variation of the El Primero 36'000 VPH. Just like the vehicles of the British car maker, it is sophisticated and understated. Apart from a discreet Range Rover caption, Zenith has avoided a
