The jet black dial has a classy arrangement of printed Arabic numerals and stylish hands. The bezel has carved stripes in it that support the sapphire crystal quite well. Hands-on with the 2016 edition of the A. Lange & Sohne Saxonia Thin, with new face (live pics, specs & price) - Monochrome Watches
This 2016 edition of the SIHH has been very productive for A. Lange & Sohne (again…). We’ve seen the stunning (yes, that’s an understatement) Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon, the poetical and kind of magical Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase Lumen, the very elegant and balanced Saxonia Moon Phase or the highly technical Richard Lange Jumping Seconds. Clearly, the Saxonian Manufacture didn’t disappoint this year. Besides these proper novelties, there was also an update of an existing watch introduced, a watch that may not be the most coveted creation of Lange but one that really has charm and a discrete elegance, the?A. Lange & Sohne Saxonia Thin, which?now features a new face.As said in the introduction, the?A. Lange & Sohne Saxonia Thin isn’t a proper novelty, as the previous edition of this watch was?introduced at the SIHH 2011, as you can see here, in our dedicated article. However, we have to remind now the 2015 edition of the SIHH, where A. Lange &a
Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Camouflage Collection Hands-On
The Royal Oak Offshore was presented in 1993, heralding a bolder style for the iconic Audemars Piguet luxury sports watch. The ROO offers a more powerful and sportier take on the model. Since then, this testosterone-fed version of the Royal Oak has stood out for its bold design and generous dimensions and it has given Audemars Piguet the opportunity to combine a number of innovative materials. Following this tradition, a daring trio of Camouflage Royal Oak Offshore models was added to the collection a few months ago. Let's take a closer look.Initially unveiled at SIHH 2019, this quirky trio of Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph 44mm follows the introduction of a first camouflage version of the model in 2018. Ironically, camouflage is originally intended to reduce visibility… but here it creates a commanding presence. Still, if you are ready for their bold style, these new Royal Oaks will feel totally cool. Ad - Scroll to continue with article
HYT H20 Brown Limited Edition (Specs & Price)
With HYT, an independent watchmaker headquartered in Neuchatel, time is fluid. Since 2012, HYT measures time in the most unconventional way. Its flow is displayed by the continuous movement of a coloured and a transparent liquid in a capillary. Several models have been presented since the inception of the brand and here's the latest creation: the HYT H2O Brown. To learn more about the company and its innovative, patented technology, you can watch our recent video here. Ad - Scroll to continue with article Since 2012, HYT successively developed the H1, H2, H3 and H4 models before launching the sleek H0 last year. H0 is a return to the roots of the company and to its raison?d’¨ºtre, emphasizing the fluidic time indication with transparency and light. An impressive sapphire dome covering the watch creates a spellbinding three-dimensional object, allowing to rea
Hands-On: The 2024 Omega Speedmaster FOiS (Side-by-Side with the Old FOiS)
The new Omega Speedmaster FOiS (for First Omega in Space) is the perfect example of a watch that’s not particularly spectacular, groundbreaking or innovative. But more often than not, a great watch doesn’t need to be a game-changer. The 2024 Speedmaster FOiS comes in continuity to a concept introduced in 2012, a vintage-inspired watch celebrating the first space flight of an Omega watch. It retains what should be retained, it upgrades what could be upgraded and somehow brings what the fan base wanted to see in this watch. Following our introducing article, it’s time now for us to bring our hands-on impressions… And also to compare this new FOiS to the now-discontinued 1st-generation Speedmaster First Omega in Space. While we’ll dive into the specifics of the 2024 Speedmaster FOiS in a bit, you can start by reading several stories that might be of help in this context. We won’t re-do the entire story of the original 1962 Mercury-Atlas 8 mission and the
Panerai Luminor Chronograph Yachts Challenge 2019 ref. PAM00764 - PAM00788 - PAM001020 (Specs & Price)
The association of Panerai with the International Circuit for Classic Sailing Yachts is a long story that has led to the creation of multiple watches, under the name Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge (PCYC). Often regarded as some of the nicest watches in the collection, just like the Luminor 1950 PCYC ref. PAM00653 we reviewed recently (my favourite Panerai watch), the Italian brand unveils three new pieces with the PCYC logo on the dial and a marked departure from the vintage inspiration of previous models.? More modern and sportier, let’s take a look at the PAM00764, PAM00788 and PAM001020.The 2019 Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge collection launches three new watches – as it is often the case with these nautical-inspired pieces. The previous collection, dating back to 2017, already houses three chronograph watches – two with flyback functions (ref. PAM00654 and PAM00653) and a more complex watch with a regatta complication and a larger case (ref. PAM00652). All of
