A plain, graceful dial is something that some people do crave for and this is exactly what you get with the Panerai Luminor Marina Radiomir pam00790. The deep, rich brown of the strap carries elegance with the black dial, on top of which you can see the beige hands and Arabic numerals. The watch movement has twenty-one jewels, and it uses two long, thin spring barrels connected in series.

Collector's Series - @nopstar83 and his Audemars Piguet 25734OR
Today we'll be talking with a collector from the other side of the world – that's the beauty of collecting these days, there are no borders anymore. His alias @Nopstar83 on Instagram may be familiar to you, since his posts of wristshots with (mainly) Audemars Piguet watches truly attract the attention! We spoke to the 38-year old watch fan, who works in IT in Singapore, about one of his favourite watches – an Audemars Piguet, as you'd expect from him, but not your typical Royal Oak. Instead, we'll be talking about a rare and very special watch, the Edward Piguet Ultra-thin Skeleton Quantieme Perpetuel in rose gold reference 25734OR.Frank Geelen, MONOCHROME – How did you get so interested in Audemars Piguet?@Nopstar83 – I got into luxury watches more than 10 years ago, in my first job in the IT industry. I started collecting other brands like TAG Heuer and Panerai, but once I held my first Audemars Piguet in my hands – back in 2009 – I knew there was
Spotted - The IWC Pilot's Watches SFTI of Top Gun: Maverick
Recently, we were able to confirm what was the watch worn by Tom Cruise in Top Gun: Maverick, the 2022 blockbuster and sequel to the cult 1986 movie. And yes, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell is back to action with the (almost) same Valjoux-powered black PVD-coated Porsche Design x Orfina Chronograph – to be fully accurate, it is not the same watch as worn in the 1986 movie, but one in a much better condition. Pretty cool, pretty accurate too. But there is much more to Top Gun: Maverick when it comes to watches… Jennifer Connelly for instance wears a vintage Explorer 1016. And then, there are the young wolves, the recruited pilots to train at Top Gun… And to make it very accurate indeed, they all wear IWC Pilot’s Watches SFTI models, the same “Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor” watches that are?only available to instructors and students in real life.?Everybody passionate about fighter jets and movies related to this will tell you that the origina
Buying Guide - The best GMT & travel watches of 2022
Whoever has experienced traversing the globe (by plane, train or automobile) while wearing a mechanical timepiece has at one point run into the drawbacks of regular time-only watches. It can tell the time in one location only, which is useless for identifying the time of day or night of your loved ones back home. Luckily, there are watches that offer a simple and practical solution: travel watches! These come in many variations and offer either a GMT function for a second time zone or a Worldtimer display where you can quickly identify the hour in multiple (and possibly all) time zones on earth. And as the year draws to a close, today’s Buying Guide homes in on some of the best travel watches presented in 2022!Longines Spirit Zulu TimeThe Spirit collection by Longines is home to some of the best watches the Winged Hourglass brand has to offer, and the Spirit Zulu Time reaffirms that very much. It’s quite a chunky watch, admittedly, but a very good-looking one at that! It co
Seiko Prospex Diver SLA017 62Mas Reedition - Baselworld 2017 Review (Specs & Price)
This is it; the star of show –?or at least the watch that received most comments and that reached the 1st place in our “most read articles of Baselworld 2017“. And believe us, surpassing in numbers during the Basel Watch Fair is?properly impressive… All of that, just to tell you how expected?this watch was and how well received it has been. Its name: the?Seiko Prospex Diver SLA017. Its function: being a faithful recreation?of the 1965 Seiko 62Mas ref. 6217, meaning the first professional dive watch of the Japanese manufacture. Its achievement: already being a collector. Overview of an upcoming success story. Our first introducing article was entitled “The Eagerly Awaited Seiko 62Mas Reedition SLA017“. And in that case, eagerly awaited was an understatement. Seiko’s collectors have been waiting for years to see the comeback of a legend, the 62Mas, the watch that started it all, a watch that is so important for the brand that it still influences
H. Moser & Cie Removes "Swiss Made" From Its Watches
As of?the 1st of January 2017, the requirements of?the “Swiss Made” label will change, with the idea being to further?strengthen the?label?and ultimately provide?the end consumer with a more ‘Swiss’ product overall. Specifically, from January 2017, at least 60% of the value of the components within?a “Swiss Made” watch?will have to be?of Swiss origin in order to be considered eligible (as a reminder, the previous rule was that?at least 50% of a watch’s value had to be realized in Switzerland). Arguably these changes are a step in the right direction however?they are still?not enough for one?manufacture named H. Moser & Cie. The brand has decided, for various reasons which?we’ll explain, that it can no longer accord with these rules?and has therefore decided to forgo the Swiss Made label altogether on its watches. At the same time they have announced the?unveiling of the most Swiss watch ever created; produced in Switzerland, by Swiss
