Hands-on review of the Oris Divers Sixty Five (live photos, specs & price) - Monochrome-Watches
What makes a watch cool? Difficult question that might lead to multiple answers and many more questions, each different considering who’s answering the question. Defining the coolness (or the attraction, to use a more grammatically correct?word) of a watch is all about subjective attributes, led by personal tastes, personal needs or personal budget. However, sometimes?a watch appears to be cool to (almost) everyone. The new Oris Divers Sixty Five has numerous tangible reasons to explain this with its stunning price / quality / coolness ratio. Throwback on one of the stars of Baselworld 2015.What does the Oris Divers Sixty Five has more than other dive watches? Technically, nothing. We can even argue that it’s a poor diver watch, with its 100m water resistance. Movement-wise, it’s also a very simple – however robust and functional – timepiece, that features the Calibre 733, based on a Sellita movement (an ETA-clone). After that, you’d probably ask you
Introducing The Elegant Longines Flagship Heritage Moonphase 38.5mm
The Longines Flagship collection, which first appeared in 1957, nowadays draws inspiration from the brand’s vintage models while incorporating adjustments to contemporary preferences and standards. Longines, established in 1832, is a highly esteemed watch brand renowned, among other things, for seamlessly blending classic and traditional aesthetics of older timepieces with modern watchmaking technology. This fusion is evident in the Flagship collection, particularly in the earlier Heritage with small seconds and date, which embodies the essence of the series. The new Flagship Heritage model, featuring a moonphase and date indicator, follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, paying homage to Longines’ innovative spirit in watchmaking. It flawlessly combines traditional design elements with modern sensibilities, ensuring its broad appeal. The elegant new Longines Flagship Heritage Moonphase is housed in a 38.5mm round stainless steel case with 30m water resistance. Hands-on with the new Oris Big Crown ProPilot Day Date (live pics, specs & price) - Monochrome Watches
When Oris’ name comes in the conversation, most collectors know what it is about: reliable, well-crafted, well-designed and perfectly priced tool watches (and not only tools…). This goes for the Oris Aquis, a reliable and accessible dive watch, or the Depth Gauge, with its innovative mechanism. There’s also a huge cool factor with some, like the Divers Sixty Five. But Oris is not only about divers, but about pilot watches too. We already showed (and tested in real conditions) the?Oris Big Crown ProPilot Altimeter. in a less technical but still pilot-oriented style, the brand just launched a cleaner?version, the?Oris Big Crown ProPilot Day Date. What makes a watch a pilot watch? Easy question you’d say but in fact there are many answers, depending on which type of pilot watch we are talking. However, we’ll try to make it simple. A pilot watch, in the definition of tools used by military pilots of WWII – the golden age of such watches – is a large
What would you do? Potential investment? - Monochrome Watches
Last year Panerai introduced two Special Editions with a vintage Minerva movement; the?rose gold PAM00398 and the stainless steel PAM00399. These are Radiomir variations with more solid lugs and a a different crown, however with the recognizable cusion-shape case. Already during the SIHH it was clear that there was a small mistake, because “stainless steeel” was engraved with one too many e’s. A painfull mistake one might think, however this is also how they have been delivered to some customers! Yes,?again a?painfull mistake. However… maybe this mistake will turn out to be a good investment? Vacheron Constantin Historiques Triple Calendrier 1942 - Review (Specs & Price)
In a piece of news that dropped on our computers a couple of weeks ago, Vacheron Constantin announced several new “Historiques” watches. As a reminder, this collection comprises the deliberately “vintage-inspired” models of the brand, including the American 1921 or the Chronograph Cornes de Vaches. With the?Vacheron Constantin Historiques Triple Calendrier 1942, saying that we’ve been impressed is something of an understatement. Beautifully designed, balanced, with heritage and pedigree, and all of that in an “accessible” (relatively speaking) steel case. It is now time to experience this?Triple Calendrier 1942 in the metal. The initiating piece, the vintage?Triple Calendar Ref. 4240When it comes to the “Historiques” collection at Vacheron Constantin, nothing emerges from scratch and there’s always a source of inspiration behind these pieces.
