Interview Wilhelm Schmid on A. Lange & Sohne 2020 Novelties and COVID-19
Usually, we would start by saying “we sat down with Mr Schmid, CEO of A. Lange & Sohne, to discuss the brand’s newest releases” or something along those lines. Well, not today. Last week I met ‘virtually’ with Wilhelm Schmid during a Zoom meeting for an interview about the two novelties A. Lange & Sohne introduced during the (again, virtual) Watches & Wonders of this year. Only two novelties for A. Lange & Sohne and to be honest, no ground-breaking novelties either. However, Mr Schmid did give some insight into what’s to come and how the company is reacting to the current COVID-19 challenges in the short and long term.?A. Lange & Sohne introduced what insiders would call ‘animations’. An animation, for instance, could be a new dial colour or a case in a different material. The two new timepieces from Lange are the Zeitwerk Minute Repeater that now comes in white gold and a new Odysseus that also comes in white gold. Yo
Bvlgari Octo Roma Worldtimer (Hands-On)
Alongside the GMT and the Chronograph, a Worldtimer can be considered one of the most practical, everyday complications. And with the world opening up to travel, the practicality of such a watch makes sense again. It comes as no surprise that many manufacturers have a GMT or a world timer in the collection. New for 2021, Bvlgari introduces the Bvlgari Octo Roma Worldtimer in two distinct versions: classic steel-and-blue and stealthy black DLC.The Octo Roma is not to be confused with the Octo Finissimo, although the two share a similar design language. The Octo Roma is the softer, more mellow interpretation of the octagonal and circular shapes that all Octos follow. It is also positioned as less complex, featuring slightly simpler cases and a sportier look. Next to that, it's a bit more affordable as well. However, it is by no means any less Bvlgari. Buying Guide - 5 Watches Showing that Purple Could be the Trend of 2022
Trends come and go. What the fashion industry has tough us is that nothing is immutable, everything comes to an end, but trends are cycles that sooner or later can come back. Some trends fade away as fast as they come, and some stick around longer. The watch industry is no stranger to these cycles. Vintage-inspired watches were a thing of the early 2010s yet they are still hugely successful. Oversized timepieces will, on the other hand, hopefully fall into oblivion. And when it comes to colours, the same can be observed. About 10 to 15 years ago, blue became highly popular. “Blue is the new black” could be heard everywhere and watch brands released dozens of blue-coloured models. Recently, say about 3 years ago, green became the hottest trend in the industry, and if it doesn’t really seem to slow down, there might be a new trend growing. Pink and mostly purple dials are on the rise, and it could be the new hot colour for watches in the coming months.?Keep in mind that
Hands-on with the Carl F. Bucherer TravelTec II in rose gold (Live photos, Specs and Price) - Monochrome Watches
The vast majority of people are comfortable with watches displaying hours and minutes. But for those on the move or doing business around the world, multiple time zone watches might just make a better wrist companion. A case in point is the luxurious yet functional Carl F. Bucherer Patravi TravelTec II, which displays not one, not two, but three time zones simultaneously. Moreover, I have had a bit of a crush on the TravelTec ever since it was introduced, so a perfectly good reason to go hands-on with this practical traveller's watch. The Patravi TravelTec II is both a bold chronograph and it also stands out because it indicates the time in no fewer than three time zones. It’s already twelve years ago since the Lucerne based brand Carl F. Bucherer introduced the TravelTec and I remember that it just made a huge impression on me. Although it's only twelve years ago, taste was quite different in those days, and such big and bold luxury sport/travel watches were quite rare. The Trave
