Audemars Piguet [Re]master01 Selfwinding Chronograph // Review
About a week ago, Audemars Piguet introduced a very surprising watch. Designed as the first watch in a new collection inspired by the brand’s rich past, the [Re]master01 watch is a remastering of a beautiful historic model. Based on a 1943 two-tone chronograph with Art Deco design, this rare and handsome watch had a hand-wound movement with “teardrop” lugs. Audemars Piguet’s idea was to offer a taste of the past in a contemporary package. Despite the complex situation, we were able to get our hands on this beautiful piece and to see what it really looks like in the metal… And yes, it really deserves to be seen on the wrist.?Judging a piece on press images, often 3D renders or ultra-photoshopped images, can be misleading. Besides the obvious lack of proportions and feeling on the wrist, these images don’t always do justice to the watch. The way the ambient light plays with a watch is important, creating reflections, changing the colour of a dial…
Michael Schumacher - Considered by Many the Very Best Racer - in Critical Condition after Skiing Accident - Monochrome Watches
Michael Schumacher's Formula One driving record made him a living legend. We pay a somber Speedy-Tuesday' tribute to the man for whom limited edition watches became something of a cottage industry. Introducing the TAG Heuer Carrera NISMO Calibre 16 Day-Date Chronograph Special Edition (specs & price) - Monochrome-Watches
When you think about racing cars and car-oriented chronographs, you should?have only a restricted amount of watches?in mind. If you think now?about the 24 Hours of Le Mans, you certainly only have one single brand in mind: TAG Heuer – mainly?because of the Heuer Monaco worn by Steve McQueen during the movie Le Mans. For 2015, TAG Heuer partners with the Nissan / Nismo Team and the result of this collaboration is a modified Carrera. Here is the new?TAG Heuer Carrera NISMO Calibre 16 Day-Date Chronograph Special Edition.Even though TAG Heuer is actually in a transitional period with a repositioning strategy (the difficult moments we reported seem to be part of the past now), conducted by its new CEO Jean-Claude Biver and that led to different types of watches, like the vintage-inspired Carrera Calibre 18 Chronograph Telemeter or the very modern Hublot-style Carrera Heuer-01, TAG Heuer’s latest piece of news was?refreshing. In fact, even before?seeing the watch in question, kn
Hands-on - Richard Mille RM 11-03 Automatic Flyback Chronograph, the facelift of an icon - Monochrome Watches
The Richard Mille RM 011 is a watch that perfectly sums up the Richard Mille spirit. We know this watch for almost?10 years and we’ve seen it in dozens of editions – some linked to certain events (Le Mans Classic), made for special friends of the brand (Felipe Masse, Roberto Mancini…) and manufactured in all possible colors or materials (red quartz, ceramic, carbon fiber, titanium, gold…). This watch could certainly be the most popular RM watch – and is probably the brand’s best seller too. After so many variations, it was time for this icon to get some fresh air, and after a strong facelift, this watch becomes the?Richard Mille RM 11-03 Automatic Flyback Chronograph. What is new in this?Richard Mille RM 11-03 Automatic Flyback Chronograph? Well, without renewing entirely the concept and the style of this watch, we have to admit that almost all the parts (visual or mechanical ones) have been reworked. This facelift is stronger that you might think at
TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Year of the Rabbit
Perhaps not the first brand you would imagine producing an animal-themed' watch in time for the Chinese Lunar New Year, TAG Heuer is determined to consolidate its presence in this lucrative niche. Representing the fourth animal sign in the Chinese zodiac cycle, the rabbit will rule the roost of 12 zodiac animals starting on the 22nd of January, 2023, until the advent of the next Chinese New Year in 2024. I imagine that the big question for a brand like TAG Heuer is how to incorporate a bunny, or any other animal, into a virile sports watch. The solution, as you will see, is tastefully discreet yet will speak closely to Chinese consumers. A special edition of the 44mm TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph has been selected to celebrate the arrival of the Chinese New Year (CNY). Since 2023 is the Year of the Rabbit, a cute red bunny with golden ears is portrayed on the caseback, visible only to the wearer. The dial also celebrates the Year of the Rabbit with its interesting textured black backgr
