Buying Guide: A Selection Of Sleek & Scratch-Proof Ceramic Watches
Watches come in all sizes, shapes, colours, styles and materials, which is why there’s always something to be found that ticks personal boxes. One of the options in terms of case material, or beyond for that matter, is ceramic. Pioneered by brands like Rado, it has come a long way and can be found in anything from a robust diver or sleek luxury sports watch to a complex calendar watch. Its main attribute is the fact its virtually impervious to scratches, plus the fact it can be crafted in pretty much any colour. With that said, here’s a selection of bold ceramic watches to satisfy our needs!Blancpain Bathyscaphe quantiEme completAs the more compact and streamlined take on the iconic Fifty Fathoms, the Bathyscaphe collection is often a platform of complications for Blancpain. Where we could have gone for the time-and-date model or even the chronograph, we went for the Quantieme Complet instead. Its brushed black ceramic case is matched to a full ceramic bracelet which Blandp
Weekly Watch Photo: The Arnold and Son Collection - Monochrome-Watches
In the past year?we have covered Arnold and Son quite often. And with good reason, because they have unveiled a lot of impressive novelties. In our article about the new?UTTE Tourbillon?we even started with “Yet another novelty from Arnold & Son!” and?we explained that we were rather impressed by Arnold & Son. For our Weekly Watch Photo we asked several of our befriended brand for some summer photos, and of course we also asked Arnold & Son. They work together with Watch-Anish?for their (superb) photos and we get to present you even more of their collection…What is truly interesting with Arnold and Son is the number and the complexity of the watches in collection. And even if the brand is quite new and is not a proper manufacture (meaning an integrated structure with R&D, conception and fabrication in the same entity), they never hide the fact that all the movements were?coming from the highly qualified manufacture La Joux-Perret. And another very inte
Co-President of Chopard Karl-Friedrich Scheufele Explains the New L.U.C Quattro - Monochrome Watches
A few days ago, just prior to Baselworld 2018, we introduced to you Chopard’s new take on one of its icons, the L.U.C Quattro, a complex watch with no less than 4 barrels and a 9-day power reserve. Yet, as powerful as this watch is, it remains a true statement of elegance and distinction – as a Chopard should be. To understand more about what this watch really represents for the brand, we asked?Co-President of Chopard Karl-Friedrich Scheufele to explain its history and the reasons behind the creation of this 2018 edition – check the video on top of this article. The L.U.C Quattro is one of the major watches in the L.U.C collection. But not the only one. Indeed, when the Scheufele family decided to relaunch the L.U.C Collection in 1996, they made it with not only a great looking watch but also with a superb movement, the calibre?1.96. This movement featured a bidirectional 22ct-gold micro-rotor and twin stacked barrels giving 65 hours of power reserve, but also a very p
Introducing the IWC Ingenieur Chronograph Sport Edition 50th Anniversary of Mercedes-AMG - Monochrome Watches
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of its?partner Mercedes-AMG, IWC unveils a new edition of the Ingenieur Chronograph Sport, which?was introduced in March of this year. The new version?comes in a titanium case, with new hour and?5-minute markers, and its magnetic field protection has been styled to look like a?brake disc! Let’s have a look at how IWC celebrates the 50th anniversary of its?partner Mercedes-AMG.?For the observant reader, I think you have probably already spotted the similarity with the dial of the Airking. That?was the first watch from a mainstream brand to feature 5-minute markers instead of hour markers. IWC’s press info about this new Ingenieur Chronograph Sport does not mention the new indices, however we can imagine that they took?inspiration from?the speedometers in the AMG cars, or something like that. Surrounding the silver-plated dial, is a tachymeter, which?make sense for a sports chronograph, as it allows you to measure the speed of a car. If you
