Introducing: Frederique Constant Highlife Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar in Steel
This year marks the 35th anniversary of Frederique Constant, and there is plenty to celebrate. With 31 in-house calibres under its belt, including complications like the tourbillon, perpetual calendar, flyback chronograph or the advanced Monolithic Oscillator, the brand founded by Dutch couple Aletta and Peter Stas and now in the hands of Citizen Group has stuck to its philosophy of accessible luxury. To celebrate the opening of the Citizen multi-brand store on New York’s prestigious Fifth Avenue, Frederique Constant launches a limited edition of its Highlife Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar Manufacture in steel with a closed dial and a competitive price tag.Frederique Constant closes the year in style with a stainless steel, closed dial edition of its tourbillon and perpetual calendar complication in a Highlife case with a price tag of EUR 26,995. Fair enough, when this movement was launched in 2018, the steel watch housing it was priced at EUR 19,495, but that was five years ago a
First Look: Malachite or MoP for the Latest Bulgari Lucea Models
While not many of us can pull off one of Bulgari's spectacular high jewellery watches like those presented in the Garden of Eden collection with opulent gemstone flowers winding up the arm, take heart because there are other women's collections designed for everyday wear. One of these is the best-selling Lucea collection launched by Bulgari in 2014. Celebrating its tenth anniversary, Lucea gets a stylish makeover just in time for the LVMH Watch Week. From the Latin lux' for light, Lucea is a collection of round watches with fascinating details like the bright pink cabochon-cut stone crown set with a diamond that belies the hand of Bulgari's master designer, Fabrizio Buonamassa. Benefitting from the subtle design tweaks for its tenth anniversary, the case has been refined, and the V-shaped links of the slinky bracelet have been softened and rounded. The idea behind the remodelling of the bracelet was to capture the sensuality of the Serpenti and the flexibility of the fluid links of the
Event Recap: Sharing the Passion for Fine Watchmaking with Montblanc - Monochrome Watches
Last week we organized a very special evening, together with our friends of Montblanc. The evening was dedicated to ‘Sharing the passion for Fine Watchmaking’ and took place in the Montblanc boutique in Amsterdam. The main stars that evening were five of the magnificent creations from the Montblanc manufacture in Villeret.Montblanc’s manufacture in Villeret is to experts and knowledgeable collectors also known as the former Minerva manufacture. That means magnificently hand-finished bridges, levers, cams and plates, that are characteristic for the iconic chronograph movements and other calibres. The stunning creations from the Villeret manufacture are rare, maybe not as rare as the Heuer Autavia with prototype orange dial that we showed you yesterday, but rare enough to clear your schedule for an evening and visit the Montblanc boutique. Some of the timepieces from Montblanc’s Collection Villeret 1858And that is exactly what many of Monochrome’s readers did
Rado Golden Horse 1957 Limited Editions - Monochrome Watches
Most of us associate Rado with design-oriented watches and innovative materials, especially high-tech ceramic. Minimalist lines, sleek profiles and silky smooth ceramic cases and bracelets have defined much of the brand's portfolio since the 1990s. And then, during Baselworld 2017, Rado surprised us with a very convincing reinterpretation of a 1962 Captain Cook model complete with 300m diving credentials. Not only was the Captain Cook a vintage-inspired watch, but it was also a dive watch, two genres that not many of us would have anticipated from Rado. Reaching back even further into the brand's somewhat sketchy past, another golden oldie materialised with the resuscitation of a 1957 dress watch known as the Golden Horse. Resurfacing in 2019 with accurate vintage details but a contemporary automatic movement, there are now four models in the Golden Horse 1957 Limited Edition collection and we got our hands on three of them. From Schlup & Co. to RadoThe brand we know today as Rado s
