A. Lange & Sohne Odysseus Titanium Limited Edition (Price)
The announcement in late 2019 of the A. Lange & Sohne Odysseus somehow came as a surprise. First, it was the German brand’s first-ever sports watch, while the competition was already well active in this field. Second, it was a rather unexpected watch, as many hope for a watch like the competition, but it wasn’t… In short, it is the A. Lange & Sohne you can wear on a daily basis, at the pool, on holidays, but not a true ultra-thin luxury sports watch with an integrated bracelet (like an RO or a Nautilus). First unveiled in steel, followed by a white gold edition, now?A. Lange & Sohne?drops the first limited edition model… And it’s stunning, yet rare and very exclusive. Meet the Odysseus Titanium Limited Edition. The new Odysseus Titanium is basically the same watch you’ve come to love (or not) as before. Except for changes in the materials, finishings and colours, it’s entirely identical to the stainless steel model regarding proporti
Introducing The Unique Tudor Prince Chronograph One, With Big Block Vibe and New Manufacture Chrono Movement
Looking at the entire lineup of unique watches for the Only Watch 2023 charity auction, you can see that some are not just an evolution of existing models but unprecedented creations… And, among the 62 watches presented, what Tudor has prepared has drawn our attention. Dare I say, it had us hooked! Visually, it marks the return of a beloved design, a watch inspired by Tudor’s first automatic chronograph, the 1976 Prince Oysterdate Big Block. But there’s more, and this can be seen under the solid caseback: a new manufacture automatic chronograph movement that could well replace the Breitling-based calibres. All in all, it somehow feels like we already know what to expect at Watches & Wonders 2024… Let’s have a closer look at this Tudor Prince Chronograph One.?For now, chronographs at Tudor have been either powered by a Valjoux (FastRider Chrono), an ETA with Dubois-Depraz module (Heritage Chrono) or, more recently, by movements produced by Breitling (Bl
My first love... Heuer - Monochrome Watches
I think every watch collector remembers that first watch that made an incredible impression. The watch was so beautiful and intriguing, you kept thinking about it. But why was it so expensive? Over the years i’ve had quite a few watches. Sometimes when i look at the photos of the watches that came and went away, i see how my taste for watches changed. It also makes me remember watches that used to be on my wish-list, that never made it to be part of my collection. With some of them i wonder what attracted me in these watches. But not with my first ‘real’ watch… my Heuer Autavia. Ad - Scroll to continue with article It was before my vacation to Vietnam. I planned to do a scuba dive course, stay some days in the jungle, 6 weeks traveling from south to north and back south again. And i really needed a watch that would be up for such a task.
COOL FINDS: 3 vintage chronographs from Airain, Longines and Universal Geneve - Monochrome Watches
Searching for vintage watches is both an exciting odyssey and a dangerous, risky path. We are pretty sure you’ve been in that situation, when?the enthusiasm?of finding the right timepiece is facing the question of authenticity and trust of sellers. As we love all watches here at Monochrome, we wanted to share with you our?interest for iconic, historical, important timepieces, sometimes far from?what you are used to see in famous auctions. Today, let’s?start with 3 vintage chronographs: a underrated aviator Type 20, a 1940s classical watch with a magnificent in-house caliber and a very rare 1970s Daytona’s competitor.Airain Type 20The Type 20 is not specific?to?Breguet. As we explained in extensive oversight of Type 20 chronograph, those watches were made after a special request of?the French Air-Force and ‘Type 20 / 21’ refers to the specifications, not the model itself. Several brands were selected to build?those chronographs: Breguet (definitely the most
Hands-On Bell & Ross Vintage BR V2-92 Steel Heritage (Specs & Price)
For several years, Bell & Ross was mainly known for its square, pilot-inspired watches. But not everybody wanted to wear such a large and bold 46mm watch (the BR-01) and what became a true icon of modern watchmaking could have become a trap for the brand. Bell & Ross had to evolve. This was the mission of the “Vintage Collection”. Entirely redesigned in 2017, this year the brand?adds a few vintage elements to make this collection even cooler, with the Steel Heritage. Today, we take a closer look at the?BR V2-92 Steel Heritage.A watch brand simply cannot rely on one single watch/collection, at least when it has the ambition to sell more than just a few thousand pieces a year. If having a true identity shared by all models is a necessity, a single concept/design is dangerous – think Panerai, for instance. Diversity coupled with consistency is key. Knowing that the BR-01 and BR-03 watches – what B&R calls the “instrument collection” –
