A. Lange & Sohne Richard Lange Minute Repeater (Price)
The minute repeater, often regarded as one of the most challenging complications to master, returns to A. Lange & Sohne. Unlike earlier models, such as the uber-complex 2013 Grand Complication or the Zeitwerk Minute Repeater that combine chiming mechanisms with other complications, the Richard Lange Minute Repeater goes solo. Shining a light on a new and improved chiming mechanism, the austere 39mm platinum case is married to a sober white enamel dial. The Richard Lange Minute Repeater is fitted with a new manual-winding movement, the 69th in-house calibre of the brand, and decorated with exquisite hand finishings. A deceptively straightforward classical dial, the striking spectacle is staged on the reverse side of the watch. The Richard Lange collection is named after the founder's son Richard who became partner of Ferdinand A. Lange's company in 1868. An outstanding watch designer, Richard Lange was also a prominent scientist and improved the elasticity of the balance spring by ad
Annual Calendar Chronographs and a Bit of History - Monochrome Watches
The annual calendar is a relatively young complication' and was first used in a wristwatch by Patek Philippe in 1996. It's the less complicated sibling of the perpetual calendar and only requires one calendar adjustment every year. Today we're looking at the less complicated' combination of a calendar mechanism and a chronograph. So not the esteemed combination of a perpetual calendar and a chronograph, but the combination of an annual calendar and a chronograph and there are actually only a handful combining these two complications. While every collector and watch enthusiast will lust over Perpetual Calendar Chronographs made by Patek, Lange, Vacheron and AP, its slightly more simple sibling is not only undervalued but also under-represented in availability. When looking at today's market for new watches, we could count only a few Annual Calendar Chronographs although we wouldn't mind seeing more of these. So for the sake of this pretty cool combination of the Annual Calendar and Chron

Re-issues seem to be popular the last few years. Especially the revival of the super compressor dive watches is quite remarkable. In my ‘chronicle‘ on Worldtempus.com i write about the popularity of the re-issues the last few years. Although TAG Heuer already started with re-issues in the late nineties, most other brands are catching up the last few years. Among others Omega, Jaeger LeCoultre and IWC presented some lovely re-issues. In my opinion Longines came with the most striking of them all…. the Legend Diver.Longines Legend DiverSuper compressors are dive watches pur sang. Together with other dive watches with external dive bezel, like the Submariner and Sea-Dweller and the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, they are the most important representatives of vintage dive watches. Since the very first time i saw a vintage super compressor, quite some years ago already, i liked them. So you can imagine i was very exited when Longines presented the Legend Diver at Baselworld 20
