Looking back at last year's Watches & Wonders highlights
We're only days away from travelling to Switzerland again (yes, finally!) and meeting up with our friends and colleagues from the watchmaking industry and affiliated media outlets. It will be stressful, running from appointment to appointment and seeing tons of watches (boohoo, have pity on us) and get the news out to you as soon as possible so you're all caught up on all the novelties to come. And as ever, when looking forward, it never hurts to look over one’s shoulder in the process. So with that in mind, we've looked back and listed what we think were the five stand-out novelties from Watches & Wonders 2021.IWC Big Pilot's Watch 43mmOut of the five selected watches, this one has certainly caused a lot of debate. While we applaud the introduction of the smaller, wrist-friendlier IWC Big Pilot's Watch 43, we also feel for the fact some people do not consider it a true Big Pilot's Watch. As it does without the emblematic 7-day power reserve indication or at least a subdial o
In-Depth - The MING 19.01 With Exclusive Movement By Schwarz Etienne (With Live Photos) - Monochrome Watches
A few months ago, we introduced you to a brand new, Malaysian-based brand called MING and their debut timepiece, the MING 17.01. Designed by famed watch photographer Ming Thein, this break-out watch sold out almost immediately (thanks in no small part to its US$900 price tag.) Impressively, just a few months later, Ming and his team have already unveiled their second watch; the MING 19.01. With a radical design, a Swiss Made movement and an extra zero on the price tag, this new timepiece has definitely gotten the watch world talking. Read on for all the details.MING X Schwarz EtienneBy way of a quick refresher for those who missed all the hype surrounding the first MING watch, the brand's creator and namesake, Ming Thein, is a well-known commercial photographer based in Malaysia. His client list includes brands like Koenigsegg, Nissan, Maybank and the City of London. In the watch world, he's worked with companies like Jaeger-LeCoultre, Van Cleef & Arpels, Maitres du Temps, Richemon
Hands-On - Bell & Ross BR-X1 Skeleton Tourbillon Sapphire (Specs & Price)
Last year, Bell & Ross set a new benchmark for itself with the unveiling of the BR-X1 Chronograph Tourbillon Sapphire. Housed in a jaw-dropping, sapphire case that left little to the imagination, the (way-too) limited-edition timepiece made it crystal clear (pun intended) that the brand is about far more than just military and aviation-inspired watches. Now, Bell & Ross is taking the challenge of transparency a step further, with the new BR-X1 Skeleton Tourbillon Sapphire.Over the last few years full sapphire cases have become increasingly popular, thanks in large part to early pioneers like Richard Mille and even MB&F. Indeed, several brands have unveiled watches with sapphire cases in the past few years alone, including Hublot’s Big Bang Unico Sapphire, Greubel Forsey’s Double Tourbillon 30o Technique Sapphire?and Rebellion’s 540 Magnum Sapphire Tourbillon. Not that we're complaining mind you. After all, transparent cases allow for uninterrupted viewing
Introducing: The new Omega Speedmaster Chronoscope Paris 2024
Released in 2021, the Chronoscope was a surprising take on the classic Speedmaster, combining a large case, a two-counter dial (usually found in larger versions and racing-oriented models) with a vintage-inspired dial bearing no fewer than three snailed-shaped tracks. Untouched since its presentation, which included steel and bronze-gold versions, the Omega Speedmaster Chronoscope collection now expands to celebrate the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics – Omega being, once again, the official timekeeper of the event. And we now have appealing new models with charm and luxury, including references in Moonshine gold. What we’re looking at today are new variations around an existing collection, in order to celebrate the upcoming Olympic Games of Paris 2024, which are set to begin in just 100 days. In short, these new Omega Speedmaster Chronoscope models are identical to the classic versions we have reviewed here, only bringing new colours and materials. But as we’ve told on mu

Some with an offset of half hour and even timezones with an offset of only a quarter of an hour! The new Vacheron Constantin Patrimony World Time is the first wrist watch that does justice to every time zone we know.
