A. Lange & Sohne Tourbograph Perpetual Honeygold Homage to F. A. Lange - Monochrome Watches
When Ferdinand Adolph Lange laid the foundation stone of his workshop in the town of Glashutte on 7 December 1845, he also laid the foundations of Saxony’s esteemed watchmaking tradition and put Glashutte firmly on the map. Today, 175 years later, A. Lange & Sohne commemorates this historic milestone with three Homage to F.A. Lange limited edition pieces, including the 1815 Rattrapante Honeygold and the 1815 Thine Honeygold. All three models hail from the 1815 family, a collection of watches that celebrate the birth year of founder Ferdinand Adolph Lange. ?Towering above the others with its extraordinary complexity is this Tourbograph Perpetual, a masterpiece combining a rattrapante chronograph, a perpetual calendar and tourbillon with a fusee-and-chain transmission and a moon phase indicator to boot. In honour of the occasion, the watch is cased in Lange's proprietary Honeygold and features a dark rhodium-plated dial and special finishes on the movement.Opus magnumFirst pres
The Affordable But Greatly Executed Orient Bambino 38 (Price)
The Bambino has been one of the best-selling collections of Japanese watchmaker Orient for years. Introduced a few weeks ago, the new versions of the model stand out with their more compact case – 38.4mm versus 40.5mm previously. We had been quite intrigued by the looks and specs of this automatic dress watch retailing at just EUR 275. So we thought we would ask for a model to review And, without making too much noise, it's typically a watch that looks and feels far more expensive than what it actually costs! You'll often hear the concept of “value proposition” when talking about accessible watches. It's a bit of a complex term, as for instance the Seamaster 300M Diver Master Chronometer can be considered one when looking at everything it offers considering its price. The notion of price is relative, of course, but in the context of truly affordable mechanical watches, serious alternatives are basically worst-kept secrets. Patek Philippe Advanced Research Aquanaut Travel Time Ref. 5650G - Review (Specs & Price)
Earlier this year, Patek Philippe unveiled the limited-edition Aquanaut Travel Time Ref. 5650G, featuring the latest technology developed by its Advanced Research program. With its unusual aesthetics and impressive technological advances, it quickly became one of the most talked about watches at Baselworld. Today, we're going hands-on with this incredible timepiece to learn more about what Patek Philippe is calling two important innovations in the field of horological design' and to see just how practical the watch is for everyday wear and use.Patek Philippe Advanced ResearchFor many people, Patek Philippe is a prestigious but conservative watch brand, focused primarily on traditional designs and historic complications. And while there is some truth in that description, the Geneva-based watch manufacturer is also highly innovative, constantly seeking to develop new technologies and improve on existing ones. Throughout the course of its 178-year history, the Maison has developed dozens
New Indie Watchmaker Havid Nagan and the HN00 Watch
After two and a half years of solitary development, the brand Havid Nagan and its debut watch finally make their official debut. With no formal training as a watchmaker, Aren Bazerkanian founded his Havid Nagan microbrand in Los Angeles and relies on Swiss manufactures based in La Chaux-de-Fonds to bring his designs to life. Judging from the press images, the inaugural HN00 models deserve a second look. A simple time-only watch, the HN00 comes with colourful, eye-catching guilloche dials. The bold architectural cases are also noteworthy and house the customised Schwarz Etienne automatic movement.?Unusual CaseThe inspiration for the geometry of the case comes, as Aren Bazerkanian admits, from his former career in real estate in Los Angeles. The bold architecture of the HN00 is, in part, motivated by the works of architect Paul McClean whose homes are characterised by rectangular and square shapes with panoramic windows framing the cityscape. Introducing: the Mido Multifort M Freeze with Ice-Blue Dial
Mido has done a commendable job updating its Multifort collection to 21st-century technical standards and contemporary tastes. As the brand's best-selling automatic model from 1934, boasting resistance to magnetism, shocks and water, the refreshed Multifort M is a rugged, accessibly priced, all-terrain watch powered by Swatch Group's Powermatic 80 movement. An attractive new dial colour expands the collection, and as its name indicates, the Mido Multifort M Freeze is designed to evoke icy blue landscapes.Ice blue dials are in demand these days, and Mido's sister brand, Tissot, got noticed with its PRX Powermatic Ice Blue last year. The new glacial blue dial colour of the Multifort M Freeze looks great and is enhanced with a subtle gradient effect. Like earlier editions, the dial also features a vertical satin-brushed finish to evoke the C?tes de Geneve decoration of its original 1934 Multifort model. Adding texture and interest, the pronounced vertical lines also let the dial interact
