Introducing The AP Royal Oak Jumbo 16202BC Blue/White Gold
Following the release last year of an updated Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin collection – the 16202ST, for the steel model – in the frame of the 50th anniversary of the brand’s iconic watch, Audemars Piguet is today releasing a new version that, visually, will feel familiar to fans of the model. Hands-On IWC Pilot's Chronograph TOP GUN Lake Tahoe and Woodland
IWC was one of the pioneers in the use of ceramics in watchmaking, relying on this innovative material as early as 1986 with the Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar 3755. The Pilot’s collection, probably the most emblematic range at IWC, is no stranger to ceramics either, which were first used in the 1994 Chronograph 3705 – which has been recently re-issued. The brand even played with colours in the 1980s, releasing small series or prototypes in white, blue, green and even pink ceramics. This trend returned in 2019 when IWC Schaffhausen presented an ultra-bold, yet highly acclaimed watch, the Mojave Desert edition and its sand-coloured case. Now, it’s time for more ceramic cases with the new Pilot’s Watch Chronograph TOP GUN Edition “Lake Tahoe” White (IW389105) and “Woodland” Green (IW389106).?Ceramic has always been part of the TOP GUN collection’s DNA. Indeed, a DoppelChronograph with a black zirconia ceramic case and titanium back marke
Patek Philippe Aquanaut Chronograph 5968A - Baselworld 2018 - Hands-on, Specs & Price
Patek Philippe continues to surprise us at this 2018 edition of Baselworld. After a rather unexpected perpetual calendar on the Nautilus, the brand now has a chronograph version of the Aquanaut – a first since the introduction of the model in 1997. And there’s more as the?Aquanaut Chronograph 5968A comes with bold touches of colour on the dial and the strap. Like or not, but Patek is moving forward. The Aquanaut was the first Patek to be purpose-built for an active life, for sports and for aquatic purposes. It’s not that the Nautilus was ever considered a dress watch, but it was more of a mix between elegance and sports. The Aquanaut has never hidden its raison d’¨ºtre. It was even the first Patek to feature a rubber strap – and in 1997, that was pretty rare. For the first time in its history, this modern icon receives a chronograph, alongside the two other existing versions – the time-and-date and the travel time models. Ad - Scroll to cont
Elka Watches Vintage-Inspired Models on Kickstarter
There are dozens of watch-related projects launched on Kickstarter and other crowdfunding platforms every month, with more or less interest. Sometimes, we stumble across something cool, nicely executed and with a captivating background, something like this; Elka Watches. A new brand built on a historic, defunct name, the idea of its founder was to bring back the flair of the 1960s with modernised specifications, attention to details and appealing designs. With two collections under its sleeve, let’s look at the retro-styled models launched by Elka Watches and now available for orders on Kickstarter.Elka Watches, the contemporary brand we’re looking at today, will probably remind some of an old company. Yet, as explained by the brand, “our brand of 2022 has no connection with the defunct Amsterdam brand. We just wanted to pay a tribute to the old Dutch brand with our first 2 models.” About the historic Elka name, it was founded in Amsterdam in 1877 by Eliazer Kie

Watches and sports cars?are?two universes that match perfectly. Heuer and Ferrari: two iconic brands that dreams are made of. For this Weekly Watch Photo, we put a gorgeous vintage Heuer Camaro on our own exclusive Monochrome Rally Strap, and strapped it on our wrist.?And with the help of one of Monochrome’s?friends, we drove a stunning red Italian car, a Ferrari 599 GTB. Great times call for great photo reporting.?Ready for a ride?We at Monochrome-Watches love the vintage Heuers, especially the Autavia. For this article, we chose another one, a Camaro, one of the most stylish but strangely underrated racing chronographs of the brand. Launched in 1968, the Camaro, named after the famous Chevrolet, shares lots of similarities with the Carrera, in a slightly larger and cushion-shaped case. The dials and hands were very close to the Carrera, and so were the movements. Ad - Scroll to continue with article
