Video - New Watches of A. Lange & Sohne Presented By Wilhelm Schmid
Live from Watches And Wonders 2022, we talk to Wilhelm Schmid, CEO of A. Lange & Sohne, who will present the brand’s latest creation and the theme for the 2022 collection. There were 3 main launches this year for ALS, starting with the new, redesigned, slimmer and slightly bolder Grand Lange 1, with a grained grey dial and ultra-thin case in white or pink gold. Second is the highly surprising titanium Odysseus, a watch with a new light blue/grey dial, new dial structure and mostly, a case and bracelet fully executed in matte-finished titanium. Last but not least, Wilhelm Schmid will introduce to us the new Richard Lange Minute Repeater, a highly classic yet technical chiming piece, with an entirely new in-house movement with several patents and an in-house made grand feu enamel dial, a first for A. Lange & Sohne. For more details about the new collection, check our video on top of the article or visit www.alange-soehne.com. Ad - Scroll to continue with article
Buying Guide: Six Openworked Luxury Sports Watches That Pull Back The Covers
In every Buying Guide, we like to group together a set of watches around a common theme, a shared feature or even with similar functions. That can be anything from watches intended for diving, using a fresh new colour or perhaps sharing the occasion of being presented during the same fair. When we were putting together today’s list, we initially wanted to show all sorts of skeletonized or openworked watches but somehow we ended up with six skeletonized or openworked luxury sports watches instead. Hey, we’re not complaining one bit, as these are some of the very best out there, based on some of the coolest and most iconic luxury sports watches. Let’s not dwell on that any further and kick things off with the Daddy of the luxury sports watch genre!Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin Openworked 16204STThe Audemars Piguet Royal Oak is the archetypical luxury sports watch, of course, penned by the late, great Gerald Genta in 1976. Often reserved to limited or special editions, they add a degree of elegance with a twist while remaining understated. The salmon dial trend has been brewing for years but it has really picked up momentum over the past few months. Here are five of the most recent examples.Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin Salmon DialIt isn't the first Extra-Thin RO Jumbo with a salmon dial (remember the Jubilee 14802St model) but it is the first time that a pink gold-toned petite tapisserie dial is matched with an 18k white gold case and bracelet. The watch is still 39mm in diameter and just 8mm thick. It houses the self-winding extra-thin 2121 calibre. This subtle and elegant take on the Jumbo is boutique exclusive
Gustafsson & Sjogren Aurora - Review With Live Photos and Price - Monochrome-Watches
The Aurora Borealis, AKA the Northern Lights' are a natural display of light found on the northern hemisphere. If you've had the chance to witness them first-hand you'll know, they are nothing short of spectacular. Streaks of blue, green, purple and yellow light shooting across the sky in mesmerizing fashion. The same effect is achieved with the Gustafson & Sjogren's watches due to its Damascus steel features. We go hands-on with number 1 of 5 of the new GoS Aurora, which took inspiration from this arctic sunrise. The GoS Aurora is named after the Aurora Borealis which in turn is named after a Roman goddess, and the connection between the Swedish brand and Scandinavian heritage is obvious. The team of master blacksmith Johan Gustafson and master watchmaker Patrik Sjogren tried to capture the essence ofthe northern lights in the Aurora, which w
Buying Guide - A selection of small seconds watches
One of the most classical displays in watchmaking is the time-only watch with small seconds. Originating from the early days of watchmaking, more specifically pocket watchmaking, this display shows only hours, minutes and seconds. But that doesn’t mean such a watch should be considered boring. Quite the opposite in fact, as there is a real abundance of styles available. Classical Calatrava-styled watches? No problem. Sporty credentials? Yes, that’s possible too. Stone dials? If that’s your thing, why not! These five watches show you that small seconds watches can be just as versatile as far more complex ones.the sporty one – Nomos club sport neomatik 37We start things off with one of the latest watches to be presented in this classical layout, with central hour and minute hands and a small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock. The Nomos Club Sport Neomatik 37 comes (unsurprisingly) in a 37mm stainless steel case with a sporty look and specifications to back it up
