Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Diver 2021 - Hands-On, Price
The Royal Oak Offshore Diver, first entitled Royal Oak Offshore Scuba, made its appearance in 2005. Since its release, it has seen a variety of vibrant dial colours and innovative, bold materials such as forged carbon or ceramic. But today marks an important step in the history of AP’s diver’s watch, with the update of the classic stainless steel model. New looks, new in-house automatic movement, more refined details on the dial and DIY?interchangeable straps, but still the same spirit of luxurious robustness. Here’s our first look at the 2021 Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Diver Collection. The first generation of stainless steel Royal Oak Offshore Diver (ref.?15703ST) appeared in 2010, followed in 2015 by the current generation of ROO diver, the ref. 15710ST, which came with a see-through caseback and small visual updates. First Look: New Gold Versions of the AP Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked 37mm
Openworked or skeletonised watches are treats for the more mechanical-minded admirers of watchmaking, and the more complex the movement, the better. In 2016, Audemars Piguet increased the viewing pleasure two-fold when it unveiled its Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked ref. 15407. As its name indicates, the movement was equipped with two balance wheels, one exposed on the dial of the 41mm watch. The latest duet to join the collection are two models with 37mm diameters in white or pink gold powered by the in-house calibre 3132. However, the novelty here is the tone-on-tone palette that matches the colour of the case material with the movement. The two is better than one premise behind the RO Double Balance Wheel Openworked, explained in this video, features two balance wheels to increase chronometric performance and stability. However, to access and regulate each balance spring individually, AP's watchmakers placed the two balance wheels and two hairsprings on a single axis but se
Porsche Goes Full-Electric on Road, on Track... and on Track with a Road Car - Monochrome Watches
Your weekly dosage of electricity-infused car news is up… That’s how we will probably start our automotive-related articles in a decade from now! For guys of passion like us, here at MONOCHROME, the topic of electric cars is still quite far from our usual standards of petrol-loaded dreams. Passion is what makes us love cars and watches. Passion is our own fuel, and fuel is what powers our passion. But enough digressions, today’s topic is about Porsche and how the Stuttgart-based brand is trying (hard) to keep up with the reality of emissions and eco-friendly behaviour and to integrate what Porsche has been for now over 60 years: a thing of passion. And you’ll see, they are not only trying but making it real.On the Road – Porsche TaycanHeretic, scandalous, irrelevant… We’ve heard those words from hardcore Porsche fans more than once. They did it in 1996 when the brand introduced its entry-level Boxster. They did it in 1997 when Porsche stopped t
Introducing: Ochs und Junior Christmas Edition 2024, Returning the 2008 Classic 36mm Design
Ochs und Junior (in reality, it should be written ochs und junior, no capital letters) was founded in 2006 by Ludwig Oechslin, Beat Weinmann and Kurt Konig – the former being one of the most revered inventors of the Swiss watch industry, the former Director of the International Museum of Horology and the man who conceived the groundbreaking Ulysse Nardin Freak. The very first watch to be presented, back in 2008, was the deliberately simplistic Settimana, a 7-weekday model with only 4 additional components (in typical Oechslin style…) And this year, the Settimana, which is now part of the permanent collection in various editions, goes back to its roots with the ochs und junior Christmas Edition 2024, a strong evocation of the very first edition. If you look at the brand’s collection, you’ll see that the Settimana is of great importance for ochs und junior, representing both its entry-level model but also its most relevant collection. In December 2020, the settiman
Ochs und Junior - Luna Mese - Monochrome Watches
Ludwig Oechslin has achieved an astronomical moon indication based on just four individual components. Intelligent minimalism and aesthetic clarity.Ludwig Oechslin already made a huge impression with the Freak and the Trillogy of Time he created for Ulysse Nardin.Later he created the MIH Watch with an annual calendar comprising of only 9 components and later the Ochs und Junior Anno Cinquanta where the annual calendar needs only 5 components! Now Ludwig Oechslin’s quest was to find?the best way of portraying just the moon, clearly and distinctly. An astronomical moon indication, but based on a brilliantly simple mechanism… Ad - Scroll to continue with article Ludwig Oechslin’s latest concept watch, created for his Ochs und Junior brand, is the Luna Mese idea.
