Walter Lange, A. Lange & Sohne Honorary Chairman, died on January,17th, 2017, the day right after we recorded this interview. We’d like to dedicate this very modest movie to this great name of the watchmaking industry and a highly respectable person. Bravo! We’ll miss you Mister Lange. As some might say, the show must go on… But?how futile?and material?this would be, the SIHH is about watches and A. Lange & Sohne again has a great, impressive and highly desirable collection of watches, including the Tourbograph Perpetual, the Zeitwerk Decimal Strike and the 1815 Annual Calendar. Guide - Our Favourite Models of Watches & Wonders Below €10K
The largest watch fair of the year is just over, so it’s time for us to sit down and to look back in details at what exactly happened during this very intense week. Watches & Wonders, previously named SIHH, is the initiative of the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie… and as expected with such a name, the focus isn’t really on accessible watches. Still, there was a substantial number of newcomers for the 2021 edition, many of them playing in a more reasonable side of the market. And all in all, there have been numerous new watches launched in a price range that a larger portion of watch enthusiasts can actually consider. So here are most of the new models launched at Watches & Wonders 2021 priced below EUR 10,000, as well as our 6 favourite watches.?Carl F. Bucherer Heritage Bicompax Annual “Orca”Not per se an entirely new watch, but a very handsome evolution of an already attractive watch. The Heritage Bicompax Annual was introduced in 2019, with a s
Value Proposition: Olivier Randin Technomatic - When you want to measure your pulse and speed after discovering that a massive thunderstorm is approaching quickly - Monochrome Watches
OK, that’s a long title to start with, however it explains what you can do with the Olivier Randin Technimatic: measure your pulse (pulsometre), measure your speed (tachymetre) and how far lightning is away (telemetre). A while ago we asked you what you wanted to see more on Monochrome, and value propositions was one of the things you would like to see more on Monochrome. So when we saw a photo of the Olivier Randin technomatic, and heard the price, we thought it would make a good idea to have a closer look.I guess you already thought that the face of this watch looks familiar. It features pretty much the same scales and dial layout as the?Patek Philippe 5975 that was introduced for the brand’s 175th anniversary. So when you were too late to get hold of one of the Patek Philippe ref. 5975 models (or lack the budget) than there’s an alternative. No… kidding. Not in terms of build and quality, but at first glance you certainly see a lot of resemblance.?The Olivier
The Collector's Series - Minutemachines' IWC Portuguese Pisa 5441-07
We’ve said it over the past already, but 1980s and 1990s IWC watches are on the rise. This era, that of the resurgence of the brand, gave birth to superb watches, such as the Doppelchronograph or the Deep One. But instrument watches are not the only topic of discussion… That was the time for the comeback of the Portuguese too. Among multiple variations around the concept, the IWC Portuguese Jubilee 5441 is one of the most desirable models. Produced in limited editions only, it is a rare and collectable watch already. And then enters the IWC Portuguese?Pisa Limited Edition?5441-07, issued in 50 pieces only in 1997 and sold exclusively through Pisa Orologi of Milan, Italy. Today, Mister @Minutemachines, an IWC-oriented collector talks about his passion for the Schaffhausen-based brand and, specifically, this superb edition of the brand’s emblematic nautical watch.Voir cette publication sur Instagram Ad - Scroll to continue with article
Unique Speake-Marin Resilience "One Art" for Only Watch 2015 - Monochrome-Watches
Among our favourites, here at Monochrome, are the timepieces from Speake-Marin,?which are always beautiful and ooh so stylish. Amongst the watches that will be donated by brands, to the Only Watch auction, is for the first time a Speake-Marin, and it’s a piece unique. Besides ‘household names’ like Patek Philippe?(check out the ref. 5016A-010 piece unique!) and Richard Mille – brands that have been participating in the Only Watch auctions since the beginning – we see a number of new-comers like F.P. Journe (with the absolutely gorgeous Tourbillon Souverain Blue) and?Kari Voutlainen, who donated a stunning GMT-6 piece unique. Today another Indy' that will?raise a fair few paddles: the Speake-Marin One Art piece unique.?Pierce Brosnan with Speake-Marin ResilienceClassic, classy and understated. These are the words that I heard people use, to describe the unmistakable style of Peter Speake-Marin’s watches. Of course, among the newer models are some spor
