The return of the Eberhard Scafograf 300 - overview of an Iconic dive watch - Monochrome Watches
Eberhard occupies a great chapter in the history of the Swiss watch industry. However, it belongs to a segment rather obscure and less known from a wider audience. A segment which contains companies likes Venus, Martel, Leonidas, Lemania, Minerva, Excelsior Park, Gallet, Nivada, to name a few but a few that were right from the start instrumental for producing calibres and watches that have propelled, as a whole, the Swiss watch industry unequivocally to its current leading position. So it is quite excited that we're about to explain the return of the Eberhard Scafograf 300, one of the less known but still iconic dive watch.History and Milestones of the Eberhard ScafografFounded in 1887 by Georges Eberhard, in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Eberhard & Co started to produce watches and quickly, it was right at the very edge of creativity. In 1935, innovation centred on the double pulsating chronograph, offering the stop and start functions without having to reset to zero; in 1938, the launch of
Introducing The New Hamilton Jazzmaster Skeleton Gets With New Sizes And Colours
The charm of a mechanical watch mostly lies in the fact it is a completely analogue experience. It’s the sensation of a rotor whizzing away as you move or wind a watch by hand, to power a mechanism of gears and levers to tell time the old-fashioned way that excites us the most. Usually, that spectacle is viewed only from the back, if at all, but in some cases, you get a glimpse of a watch’s inner workings from the front as well. One such watch is the Jazzmaster Skeleton, a long-standing model in the ever-popular Jazzmaster range by Hamilton. The new Jazzmaster Skeleton balances the classique aesthetics of the casual yet dressy watch and jazzes it up (pardon the pun) with new dial designs and colours, as well as a new 36mm size. The cases look virtually identical in design to the previous editions of the Jazzmaster Skeleton (and Open Heart for that matter) yet Hamilton has slightly reworked them and now introduces it in a reduced 36mm alongside the existing 40mm size. Video Review: The FPJ Tourbillon Souverain Vertical is One of the Few Relevant Tourbillon Wristwatches
If you’re reading this article and MONOCHROME on a regular basis, you should certainly all about the tourbillon, this device where the regulating organ is placed in a constantly rotating cage, counteracting the negative effect of gravity. But we have to keep in mind that the tourbillon, conceived and patented by Breguet in 1801, was designed for pocket watches, timekeepers spending most of their time vertically in a pocket. But what about tourbillon in wristwatches? Well, it is well known that their relevance remains to be demonstrated, mostly because of how a wristwatch is worn – most of the time in a horizontal position. Enter Fran?ois-Paul Journe and the Tourbillon Souverain Vertical. And this watch, besides being an absolute mechanical feast, also brings a lot of sense to the tourbillon in a wristwatch. Check our video review to know more!Gravity affects everything. That’s the law of physics. And, as such, it does affect the regulating organ of a watch, mostly the
Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Enamel Hokusai Amida Falls
In Japanese art and culture, few names resonate as much as Katsushika Hokusai. This 19th-century master artist is well-known beyond Japan’s borders as his fame extends into the Western world as well. Hokusai was one of the rare Japanese craftsmen who elevated woodblock printing, considered a simpler form of art at the time, to a high-end artform. His series of 8 woodblock prints created in 1833 and 1834, all depicting waterfalls found across Japan, is considered to be one of the finest representations of landscapes ever produced. Among this series is The Great Wave off Kanagawa, but also the Amida Falls, which is the topic of choice in Jaeger-LeCoultre’s latest Reverso Tribute.?Using the iconic Reverso concept, JLC has taken the caseback of the Reverso Monoface and turned it into a miniature canvas yet again. This time a miniature reproduction of Hokusai’s woodblock print of the Amida Falls is hand-applied on the closed back side of the reversible case with Grand Feu
