Longines 24-Hours Single Pusher Chronograph - Monochrome Watches
The Longines Heritage collection offers a great opportunity to own an affordable timepiece, that has many of the looks of important vintage timepieces, yet the reliability of a modern one. The new Longines 24-Hours Single Pusher Chronograph is clearly inspired by Longines’ longstanding history in dedicated pilot’s watches. Many of the Longines pilot watches from the Heritage collection have been covered by us before, however this is the first with a 24-hour dial.?Longines’ important role in the development of aviation watches is of important historical value and was of course covered extensively in our series about the History of the Pilot Watch (the very first pilot’s watch was however made by Cartier.) Especially the Longines Hour Angle Watch and the Weems Second-Setting Watch played an important role in the first days of aviation. Similarly, a large single pusher pocket watch chronograph, adapted to be worn on the wrist, also played an important historical ro
Introducing: Hublot Big Bang Unico All Black Schloss Schauenstein
Like watchmaking, gastronomy demands extreme precision and excellence. Both Haute Horlogerie and Haute Cuisine aim to evoke emotions through their craft. Unsurprisingly, many of the world’s best chefs have become ambassadors for some of the most prestigious watch brands. Hublot counts Yannick Alleno, Anne-Sophie Pic, Clare Smyth, and Andreas Caminada among its ambassadors. Caminada, awarded 19 Gault & Millau points in 2009 and 3 Michelin stars in 2011, practices his culinary art at Schauenstein Castle in the village of Furstenau, Switzerland. The Swiss chef has partnered with Hublot since 2017. Today, this partnership reaches a new level with a special collaboration celebrating his 20 years at the castle – the Big Bang Unico All Black Schloss Schauenstein. As its name suggests, the celebratory Big Bang comes in an all-black design featuring a 42mm micro-blasted ceramic case. The captivating new Andersen Geneve Tempus Terrae Baguettes
With more than 40 years of independent watchmaking experience, it's fair to say Svend Andersen is one of the most seasoned watchmakers and a leading character in the industry. After working at Patek Philippe in the 1970s, he founded Andersen Geneve in 1980 and since has been at the forefront of the indie scene. He's a founding member of the AHCI for instance, in which he has always aimed to share knowledge and help others where possible. One of the cornerstone models in Andersen Geneve's arsenal is the Tempus Terrae, a wonderful world timer inspired by the complication as developed by Louis Cottier for Patek in the 1930s. For 2022, Andersen Geneve presents a pair of captivating new Tempus Terrae with Sapphire or Aquamarine baguette set bezels. The Sapphire baguette-set version of the Andersen Geneve Tempus Terrae.Technically there's nothing new regarding this pair of Tempus Terrae models, as the differences from previous renditions are purely aesthetical. Yet, the duo combines the wonde
Hands-On - IWC Portugieser Chronograph Classic 2017 Edition IWC3903 (Specs & Price)
The IWC Portugieser Chronograph Classic was introduced in the middle of 2013 with little fanfare, long after the madness of the SIHH had subsided. The underlying idea was a more technical (new movement) but highly faithful take on a watch that has become a cornerstone in the collection (the design is heavily based on the Portugieser's DNA). For 2017, this now-classic model receives a discreet facelift, focused on the essentials. Here is the IWC Portugieser Chronograph Classic 2017 Edition IWC3903.The Portugieser model was introduced by International Watch Co. in the 1940's, and was notable for its large diameter, exceptional legibility, applied Arabic numerals, railway-track-style chapter ring and characteristic feuille hands (or leaf hands in English). These key design traits are still visible in the current collection and are one the main reasons this watch is considered amongst the horological icons. A Portugieser is a Portugieser and is recognizable as such. Ad - Scroll
Hands-On - Czapek Geneve Quai des Bergues Guilloche - Monochrome Watches
The name Czapek, once famed as a partner of what would become Patek Philippe, came back to the forefront of the scene late 2015 with the elegant and well-thought out Quai des Bergues. The watch was awarded the public prize at GPHG 2016, one of the most (if not the most) meaningful industry award ceremony, which is no small achievement. The collection reflects the Czapek ethics to propose finely crafted classics whose understated style offers a distinctive twist and a distinctive character. The Quai des Bergues pink gold guilloche Emperor blue - unique piece.
