The Maison Alcee Percee, A Fantastic Built-it-Yourself Mechanical Table Clock
In today’s day and age, it’s easy to forget that the wrist-worn timekeeping devices we love so much come from a long history of clockmaking. After all, clockmaking precedes watchmaking by several centuries, as the first mechanical clocks date back to the 13th century. But even before that, people were fascinated by the passing of time and tried making sense of it through sundials, water clocks and hourglasses. With the rise of wristwatches in the early 1900s, and especially after the invention of quartz and digital clocks and watches, the need for traditional mechanical clocks slowly started to dwindle, to a point where it’s often overlooked nowadays. Nevertheless, there’s a surprising number of very beautiful and highly interesting mechanical clocks still to be found for those who know where to look. One such offering comes from Maison Alcee, a young independent clockmaking start-up from France. And best of all, you can build the high-end Maison Alcee Percee cl

Rare Roger Dubuis watches - Monochrome Watches
Sometimes you see a watch and you immediately ‘fall in love’ with it. This does not happen too often, but what if this happens with two watches from the same brand? Recently a friend mailed me about a watch that was for sale at a local watch store. He knoww I have a weak spot for mono-poussoir chronographs. The watch was a Roger Dubuis Hommage Mono-poussoir in white gold with a salmon color dial. A salmon color dial is not my usual pick, but this one was so beautiful…. Tissot Heritage 1973 Chronograph Limited Edition - Introducing (Specs & Price)
Tissot has solid ties with racing. Swiss driver Loris Kessel wore a Navigator chronograph in the 1970s and was officially sponsored by Tissot in the 1976 Formula 1 Grand Prix. The brand is once again working with Kessel Racing, this time with Ronnie Kessel (son of Loris) to launch the limited edition Heritage 1973. The watch has been updated a bit with contemporary touches but maintains many retro elements that made the original Navigator such a compelling piece. A larger case, updated dial and sapphire crystal mark the major differences, and while not technically a reissue, it's a nice throwback to the 1973 classic. Let's take a closer look. The 316L stainless steel case has a satin-brushed finish with polished bevels – typical of the era – with a diameter of 43mm and height of 14.8mm. The cushion case is nearly identical in shape to the smaller 39mm Navigator with a slightly larger crown and pushers. A domed sapphire crystal replaces the Navigator's acrylic and a mineral g
