A. Lange & Sohne Richard Lange Jumping Seconds (hands-on, live photos, price) - Monochrome Watches
The Richard Lange Jumping Seconds watch is yet another exemplary achievement of the watchmakers from Glashutte. The watch is all about precision and innovation but also about history and heritage. The 39.9mm timepiece will be produced in platinum and is limited to 100 pieces. It combines a display of seconds in strict one-second intervals with some other clever features in honouring F.A. Lange's invention of 1867.About Jumping secondsThe jumping second – also referred to as dead second (because the hand does not move between steps) or seconde morte – is a complication that moves the seconds-hand at every exact second. The Collector's Series - An indie lover and his very special Ochs und Junior Annual Calendar - Monochrome-Watches
Discussing watches with collectors never fails to amaze and inspire me. I tend to find it is the stories behind the watches themselves that evokes the emotion within a collector. As the great marketing guru Simon Sinek always says, it is not the what' but the why' which counts. I am also of the belief watch collecting should be something that has less to do with social significance and more about intrinsic meaning and a deeper appreciation of time for a collector (although this is not always the case). An example of this is this Andre Ekrem's Ochs und Junior, a fascinating timepiece which on first inspection looks extremely simple. Andre is a 34 year old from Bergen in Norway a self-confessed corporate slave by day and watch geek by night (and weekend!). With a passion for travel, he tells me he frequently finds himself visiting independent watchmakers on the move. Let's find out why his Ochs und Junior is so special to him. When did you first get into watches? As long as I can remember
Hands-on - The Arnold and Son UTTE - Ultra Thin Tourbillon Escapement, with hand guilloche dial (live pics & price) - Monochrome Watches
When you think Arnold and Son, the first word you might have in mind is: complicated. We, watch-collectors, are certainly the only kind of people to like when things are complicated. And at Arnold and Son, people like it when it’s very complicated – think here dead-beat second, mixed with a chronograph, constant-force devices, skeletonized movements,?tourbillon chronograph?and, of course, all kind of tourbillons. In terms of tourbillons, there are quite a few watches possible (like this?with a dead-beat second?or this, not with one but with two of them). There’s another one that plays on the understated side, and besides?its apparent simplicity, the?Arnold and Son UTTE (Ultra Thin Tourbillon Escapement) isn’t that simple. Overview of a complicated simple watch. What is the?Arnold and Son?UTTE? It is a great demonstration of elegance and restrained haute horlogerie, mixing a complicated movement in a thin case and a superb hand-guilloche dial (for this edition, as
Antiquorum Auctions Patek Nautilus 5711 Green EUR 320000
Most watch enthusiasts are certainly aware of the current situation in the luxury sports watch field, with the most emblematic models of the category – namely the Nautilus and the Royal Oak Jumbo – reaching incredibly high prices on the second-hand market. As for the topic of the day, we’ll be talking about a unicorn, the recently introduced and already ultra-coveted Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711/1A-014, with its desirable olive green dial. A watch that is almost impossible to obtain from retailers and boutiques, and that is already undergoing extreme speculation. Hands-on with the Montblanc Heritage Spirit Perpetual Calendar with Sapphire Dial (Photos, Price and Specs) - Monochrome Watches
At the 2014 Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) Montblanc surprised us all with the introduction of a perpetual calendar that was priced rather?competitively. With perfect classical design,?it looked just like a million bucks, while its price starts at around € 10,000 Euro for the stainless steel version. With that price tag it was simply the most affordable perpetual calendar on the market today. In 18K red gold it is around €17k Euros and now there’s a new version, again in red gold, however with a new dial. That new dial is made of smoked?sapphire crystal it looks absolutely awesome.
