First Look: The Girard-Perregaux Laureato 42mm Pink Gold Sage Green and Ultramarine Blue
One of the earliest models in the so-called luxury sports watch category, the Girard-Perregaux Laureato, was released in 1975 and powered by a quartz movement. In 1984, mechanical movements found their way into this original barrel-shaped watch, and this has become the norm since the return of the watch in 2016. Now an established collection with countless variations and colours, the Girard-Perregaux Laureato range extends once more this year with the addition of two original colours – sage green and ultramarine blue – inside luxurious pink gold cases.?The design of the Laureato was set in stone back in 1975, making it one of the earliest members of the highly regarded luxury sports watch category – and while it came after the all-important Royal Oak (1972), it predates three other icons, the Patek Nautilus (1976), the IWC Ingenieur (1976) and the Vacheron 222 (1977). A classic of the genre, the Laureato was built around a shaped case with an integrated bracelet. The

Introducing: The 2023 Editions Of The Chopard Mille Miglia GTS Chronograph & Classic Chronograph
Just as every year, Chopard launches new iterations of its iconic racing chronograph, named after one of Italy’s most famous racing events, the Mille Miglia. This daunting open-road race was held between 1927 and 1957 and made history thanks to some of the greatest racing cars piloted by the bravest drivers imaginable. The event returned in 1977 as the Mille Miglia Storica, a classic car event eligible for pre-1958 cars that registered or raced the original Mille Miglia. Chopard has been the title sponsor for this highlight event of the year for 36 years and named its racing-inspired watch collection after it. New for 2023 is a limited edition of the GTS Chronograph with a charity incentive as parts of the proceeds are donated to the victims of the recent Emilia Romagna floods. Also joining the collection is a quartet of new models of the Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph, with a new size and new colours. The Mille Miglia road raceAs said, the Mille Miglia event is one of the most
Hands-On Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Valentine Day 2023
Valentine's Day is a marketing opportunity for many watch brands and the perfect occasion to launch special editions. Blancpain has been producing Valentine's Day models for more than two decades, with watches decked out in diamonds and red accents, like these Villeret or Ladybird models. This year, Blancpain turns to another collection to celebrate the most romantic day of the year. Marking a first for the Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe collection, Blancpain has singled out a 38mm diver for a romantic makeover with a prevalence of white and pink tones and a red heart marking the seconds.BathyscapheThe Bathyscaphe of 1956 is the civilian offspring of Blancpain's Fifty Fathoms, the watch that was adopted by military diving corps and regarded as the blueprint for modern dive watches. Named after August Piccard's deep-water diving vessel, Blancpain added a date complication to make it more practical for daily wear. Although initially designed for separate clientele, the two lines eventually me
Hands-On - Tudor Heritage Advisor Cognac, one of the very few alarm watches on the market (live pics, specs & price) - Monochrome Watches
In terms of complications, the chronograph is certainly the most widely known – and used – of them all. Then, when you pronounce the words “chiming watches“, the immediate reference goes to the minute repeater. However, one chiming complication shouldn’t be forgotten, one which?is actually rather important historically and one that will immediately link to the “president watch“. Alarm watches are rare, somehow?outdated – especially in our era of smartphones (but like every?mechanical watch) – but also sort of fascinating. One of the very few manufacture to offer one is Tudor, and their proposition comes with a new color this year. Here is the?Tudor Heritage Advisor Cognac.Strange enough, we never covered this watch on Monochrome-Watches. Don’t ask why, we have no good reasons for that. It’s even more surprising, considering that the Tudor Heritage Advisor is the most complicated watch of the catalogue. This issue is abou
