Audemars Piguet To Exceed CHF 1 Billion Revenue in 2018 and to Fully Integrate its Retail Network - Monochrome Watches
In an interview to Reuters, CEO Francois-Henry Bennahmias declared that Audemars Piguet will deliver double-digit growth in 2018 and that the brand's turnover will exceed one billion Swiss francs this year. To further boost sales, Audemars Piguet plans to cut-out third-party multi-brand retailers to arrive at a totally integrated retail network within three to five years. The integration of distribution in the watch industry started years ago with the creations of subsidiaries and with the wish to sell more and more in own-name stores. Audemars Piguet aims at pushing this strategy one step further, with a fully integrated network (directly operated or with local partners). Bennhamias added that Audemars Piguet could consider acquiring retailers too. Bringing distribution in-house allows increasing sales and consolidating margins with directly operated stores. It is also the opportunity to get full control of operations at a retail level and to leverage the complementarity of the differe
The Bulgari Divas' Dream Mosaica 2023 Collection
Bulgari’s watchmaking renaissance has produced some remarkable watches. While the Octo has asserted itself as a pillar of incontestable elegance and thinness, women around the world have succumbed to the seductive sinuous charms of Bulgari’s snake mascot, the Serpenti. The iconic Roman jeweller, renowned for its exuberant colours, sensual cabochon cuts and design bravura, introduced the sensual Divas’ Dream collection in 2016, designed to capture the voluptuous curves of Italian Dolce Vita screen divas. Kicking off LVMH Watch Week, Bulgari launches new editions of the Divas’ Dream Mosaica, two new high jewellery mechanical editions that marry Bulgari’s iconic style with the ancient Roman art of mosaic picked out in gradient sapphires. Two years ago, Bulgari released three Divina Mosaica models, including a stunning diamond-set minute repeater, with sumptuous gemstone-set dials recreating a motif borrowed from Rome’s ancient Caracalla Baths. First Look: The New, Monochromatic Ming 37.02 Ghost
Renowned for its contemporary and minimalist designs, Ming, the indie watch brand founded by Malaysian photographer Ming Thein in 2017, has gone from strength to strength. Design is king at Ming, and a common design thread runs through all the collections, ranging from time-only to sophisticated chronographs and from world timers to dive watches. Following in the footsteps of the Ming 37.02 Minimalist, the new Ming 37.02 Ghost is a straightforward time-only model that plays with brushed textures to coax light and shadows from the grade 2 titanium case and dial. While Ming's names for its models get no points for creativity, the occasional suffix attached to the numeral in some references is particularly helpful. In this case, the Ghost suffix alludes to the watch’s lightweight, ethereal personality cloaked from head to toe in grey. The Ming 37.02 Ghost belongs to the 37-series, a collection characterised by its 38mm case sizes with complex curves, a large notched crown and the fla
Hands-On - 2022 Tissot Le Locle Powermatic 80 Open Heart
Tissot’s collection covers a large spectrum, ranging from ultra-robust dive watches to racing-oriented chronographs and, the star of the moment, a sporty-chic watch with an integrated bracelet. And because it’s Tissot, all of them are pretty hard to beat in terms of value for money. If you’re looking for something a bit more classic, the Gentlemen is a very compelling option that packs it all. Recently available in an openworked edition, it’s now time for its dressier counterpart, the Tissot Le Locle, to appear in the Open Heart edition, still with a Powermatic-based movement and an extra layer of elegance. We’ve praised the Tissot Gentleman on many occasions here at MONOCHROME. Considering its sub-1k price tag and everything it offers in return, it is one of the best options when it comes to choosing an all-rounder watch. With its steel bracelet, sleek design and comfortable water-resistance, this is a great contender for the one-watch collection. Do-it-al
Lang & Heyne Hektor Sports Watch With Integrated Bracelet
We’ve said it repeatedly over and over here, at MONOCHROME… The sports watch with integrated bracelet is simply the hottest, most desirable and most (commercially) successful watch category these days. Without surprise, we’ve seen dozens of brands entering the genre, from accessible luxury powerhouses to small independent watchmakers. We can’t blame them, as they are simply answering the demand for such watches. And since the idea seems to be working most of the time, there will be even more newcomers. The latest in line is one that we clearly didn’t expect… A Dresden-based brand specialised in refined and classic watches. Here’s the new Lang & Heyne Hektor. When you think about Lang & Heyne, you might have this kind of watch in mind. Classic, refined, slightly old-school, typically German timepieces of rare execution, with ultra-decorated handmade movements, once again built in a typical Saxon way. Based in Dresd
