A. Lange & Sohne Saxonia Outsize Date (SIHH 2018)
Somewhat eclipsed by the immediate success of the Lange 1 with its off-centred oversized date when it was unveiled in 1994, many of us forget that the Saxonia also had a big date on its dial. The difference was that the Saxonia featured the date in a symmetrical position, just below noon and was counterbalanced by the small seconds counter at 6 o’clock. The underlying symmetry of the Saxonia would distinguish it from its sibling the Lange 1 and become one of the characteristics of the collection. Presenting the A. Lange & Sohne's new Saxonia Outsize Date, a harmonious and symmetrical fusion of core traits with a dark soul – and in terms of concept, there’s a bit of the old Sax-O-Mat in this new watch.A fusion of family traitsThe Saxonia was one of the four pillars that trumpeted Walter Lange's resurrection of the brand in 1994. The epitome of purity and elegance, the name of the collection pays tribute to the German region of Saxony where the brand was founded by
Industry Richemont Confirms Sales Growth in Q4 2021
Following the announcement a few months ago of its strong performance over the 6 first months of its fiscal year, Richemont today released its sales figures for the third quarter ended 31 December 2021 – remember that Richemont closes its books on 31 March – and once again confirms the trend seen over the past year, with recovery of sales in mind following the massive drop due to the pandemic. With sales up?by 32% at constant exchange rates compared to the same period last year, and?third-quarter sales up by 38% compared to 2019, it even surpasses the pre-pandemic levels (also driven by the integration of new businesses, however).?Overall, all business areas and all regions show double-digit sales growth, with the strongest performance from the Americas and Europe, rebalancing regional sales mix. Hands-on: The Genus GNS2 - Sleeker, Still Fascinating
A masterpiece of ingenuity and complexity, the GNS1 dazzled the watchmaking scene with its incredible free-moving train travelling around the two central counters on the dial like a mechanical caterpillar. Marking the indie brand's debut in 2019, the GNS1 was ten years in the making and protected by two patents. Earlier this year, Genus introduced the GNS2, a follow-up model designed to simplify the display and lighten the case. Now fitted with a closed dial and two separate and shorter trains, the question is whether this exercise in style results in a more legible, streamlined and ultimately more wearable watch. The First GNS1Genus Watches is a collaborative venture between entrepreneur Catherine Heny and watchmaker Sebastian Billieres and was founded in 2019. The first opus to emerge from Genus, the GNS1,?is a veritable mechanical extravaganza, relying on an ingenious mechanical train/free-moving element circling the two tens-of-minute counters in the centre of the dial to form a fig

A brand of recent creation, the name Franck Dubarry may sound familiar. Franck Dubarry is a French entrepreneur and watch designer. After 10 years and selling over 2.5 million watches, Franck Dubarry sold his brand to a private equity fund.In 2014, no-longer bound by a non-competition clause, he decided to return to the watch industry to develop a brand under his own name with the idea of crafting contemporary, original watches with a bold design, corresponding to his personal tastes and experiences, in particular travels.
