Baltic Aquascaphe Bronze (Specs & Price)
The brainchild of a young, passionate French collector who wanted to offer handsome vintage-inspired pieces at reasonable prices, microbrand Baltic has been successful – rightfully so – with its two existing collections. One of them is named the Aquascaphe, a dive watch inspired by icons of the 1950s, packed with retro-styled elements. Following the development of the brand, this watch now comes in a new material, with multiple updates on the case and dial. Let’s look at the new Baltic Aquascaphe Bronze.Baltic Watches is the brainchild of Etienne Malec, a young Frenchman who has inherited his father's passion for watches - something he shared with us some years ago. An avid collector, his father spent years putting together a collection of exceptional timepieces, some of which have inspired the designs of Baltic's first two models. The creation of Baltic Watches was a way for Etienne to fulfil his passion for watches (and he is truly passionate). After successfully fu
Hands-On With The New Patek Philippe Aquanaut Chronograph 5968R
In 1997, Patek Philippe presented the Aquanaut Ref. 5060A, a sports watch with a rubber strap, heavily inspired by the design of Nautilus. It was aimed at a new and younger clientele with fast money to spend, looking for a fresher and sportier alternative to an already established model. Twenty-six years later, the Aquanaut collection comprises twenty references, nearly as many as the Nautilus, born two decades earlier, in 1976. The Aquanaut, ridiculed as a Nautilus Junior at first, now is a similarly distinguished and unobtainable Patek. However, the Aquanaut offers fewer complications than the older brother, perhaps restrained by the sporty nature of the collection. But active lifestyle and sport are about timing, so after a rather long consideration, the Aquanaut collection welcomed a chronograph to its ranks in 2018, the stainless steel Ref. 5968A. Three years later, PP added two white gold models to the collection. Recently, Patek Philippe introduced a very indiscreetly luxurious
Oris Aquis Date with new colors to perform in the deep (specs & price) - Monochrome Watches
When you have the concept of a rugged and functional dive watch in mind, with great quality and for a relatively affordable price, the Oris Aquis Date has to be on your wish-list. No debate, this watch is good for what it has been designed for – and it’s also a pleasant watch on a daily basis (even professional divers spend some time on land…). Although we thought it to perform well, it seems that Oris had some improvements to make, and this year, they add 2 new colors and dials designed to perform in the hostile conditions found deep underwater.Underwater, the notion of color has to be seen on a completely different level. For instance, red, which is a bright and highly visible color on earth, totally disappear when underwater, and at just 5m down to the sea. On the other hand, some other colors, like blue for instance, remain?highly visible, even at 200m. Aware of this issue, Oris looked at how they could make a diver's watch as legible and therefore as safe as poss
Introducing The Fortis Flieger F-43 Triple-GMT PC-7 TEAM Limited Edition
Swiss brand Fortis has been under a drastic restructuring in recent years, with almost all collections being discontinued. There was, of course, an ambitious plan behind this bold move, a complete overhaul of the brand that materialized with the introduction of a brand new Flieger collection in 2020. Fortis being Fortis, this typology of watches was much anticipated and the result took the shape of a rugged, ultra-utilitarian trio of Flieger watches; the F-43 Bicompax, the F-39 and F-41 Automatic and the F-43 Triple GMT. With an impressive list of specifications that make them some of the toughest watches in the category, it is no surprise that it has attracted armed forces and pro-pilots. And this includes the PC-7 Team, the aerobatics team of the Swiss Air Force. The PC-7 Team is known as the group of highly trained pilots of the Swiss Air Force performing aerobatics displays. Introduced in 1982, it has since its establishment flown the Pilatus PC-7 Turbo Trainer, which explains the n
