Introducing: The Luxurious H. Moser & Cie Streamliner Flyback Chronograph Boutique Edition
It’s full steam ahead for H. Moser’s luxury sports Streamliner collection. Introduced in 2020, the fluid, sophisticated design of the Streamliner has hosted a Perpetual Calendar, a Tourbillon and its first model, a Flyback Chronograph with one of the best chronograph calibres designed by movement specialist Agenhor. Thanks to record growth and its increasing dominion of the independent scene, Moser has been busy developing retail spaces in Asia, the Middle East, America and China. The latest interpretation of the Streamliner Flyback Chronograph celebrates the opening of Moser boutiques in Hong Kong and Shanghai and, for the first time in its three-year lifespan, appears in a luxurious red gold case on a rubber strap with a Matrix Green fume dial. The success of Moser’s luxury sports watch is that it does not fall into the trap of emulating the 1972 octagonal Royal Oak designed by Gerald Genta - the indisputable leader of the pack and its countless copycats. Collecting chronographs - Monochrome Watches
Most collectors have a personal preference. Some collectors focus mainly on dive watches, some on chronograph and some have a ‘weak spot’ for a certain brand. A good friend collects Cartier watches, not just any Cartier but mainly from the Collection Privee. Another good friend collects watches from A. Lange und Sohne and he has some extraordinary pieces. My initial personal preference in watches where chronographs and although my preference has changed to watches made by independent watchmakers, chronographs still have a special place in my ‘collectors heart’. There are just a few existing chronograph calibers and these are used by most brands. Glashuette Original is one of the few big brands with
First Look: The Discreet Luxury of the Chopard L.U.C 1860 Flying Tourbillon
Karl-Friedrich Scheufele's dream of mechanical independence materialised in 1996 with the presentation of Chopard‘s first in-house movement known as calibre 1.96. Produced in Chopard’s Fleurier manufacture, the calibre was fitted inside the first L.U.C 1860 watch, writing a new chapter in the brand's high-end watchmaking journey. Recognised as one of the finest ultra-thin micro-rotor automatic movements produced in Switzerland, calibre 1.96 has spawned a generation of sophisticated movements like the flying tourbillon introduced in 2019. The latest reference, powered by the tourbillon calibre L.U.C 96.24-L, is the epitome of a dress watch flaunting perfect proportions, a gorgeous hand-guilloche dial, a hinged, hunter-style caseback revealing the superlative in-house movement. A limited edition of 10 pieces, the L.U.C 1860 Flying Tourbillon is a proponent of quiet luxury, a product that whispers rather than shouts luxury.Although the first model to feature the ultra-thin fly
Alpina AlpinerX Launches on Kickstarter and it's Selling Like Hotcakes - Monochrome Watches
Smart watches, quartz watches, digital watches… that’s nothing for MONOCHROME. You know us, we cover high-end mechanical watches (and a value proposition once in a while), because the beauty of mechanics is what gets us going. The other day, however, Alpina launched their latest creation on Kickstarter and I think that’s rather novel. A big and established brand launching their latest watch on a digital platform mostly used by new-comers.It’s not the watch that we’re interested in, it’s the business aspects of this rather unusual move from Frederique Constant / Alpina that got our attention. Big brands usually do not launch online. Maybe a handful of?pieces will be sold exclusively online like for instance Jaeger-LeCoultre did with the Geophysic?True Second Limited Edition and, during SIHH 2018, with the Polaris Memovox. It happens, but only scarcely and in limited quantities. Until now that is! A full online launch of Alpina’s newest piece, a
Richard Mille RM10 red gold - Monochrome Watches
This is a watch I don’t come across very often but when I do I just have to take a close look. It is a Richard Mille RM10 in red gold. Visually and technically an extraordinary watch. During Baselworld I got the chance to try one on my wrist and wearing it for a mere 15 minutes was all it took to be convinced. Very comfortable on the wrist and always a pleasure to look at the time or just how beautifully constructed this watch is. Let’s take a closer look at the brand and specifications of this RM010 AH/RG.
