The Cartier Baignoire Allongee - Monochrome Watches
Since its first wristwatch was created in 1904, Cartier has carved a name for itself as a daring and innovative brand that doesn't shy away from shapes. Decade after decade, the brand unveiled incredible and unusual shaped watches, from the Tank to the Crash and even the Baignoire. Now, Cartier takes one of its premier signature looks – the Baignoire – and adds depth and dimension in the amazing new Baignoire Allongee. The Baignoire collection of oval-shaped timepieces was first introduced to the world more than 60 years ago in 1958, but its roots date much further back. In fact, the collection takes its inspiration from the first oval watch created by Louis Cartier in 1912 during a period where Cartier looked to transform everyday shapes into stylistic looks. Buying Guide - Our 10 Best Watches of 2018 Under EUR 2,000
Let’s make things clear! When Frank founded MONOCHROME over 12 years ago, the main objective was to create “an online magazine dedicated to fine watches”. This meant the celebration of traditional, high-end watchmaking. Believe it or not, but even “enamel dial”, “in-house movement”, “chronometer” or “annual calendar” form part of this buying guide!Note: as always,

Hands-on with the Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Traditionnelle Small Seconds - Monochrome Watches
Recently we had the chance to get up close and personal with the new Patrimony Traditionnelle Small Seconds in platinum, that Vacheron Constantin introduced earlier this year at the SIHH. This new model has all the looks and attributes of a classic dress watch, and it’s one of the most attractive classic dress watches that we have seen in a long time.?Part of its great looks, is that it is not the standard classic dress watch and sets itself a bit apart from other dress watches in pink/yellow gold with a silver/white dial. The grey dial with the slightly recessed small seconds sub dial that is encircled by a rail track seconds index. looks a tad more sporty than a standard dress watch’s dial. And that perfectly matches with the platinum case, that measures 38 mm in diameter and 7.77 mm in height. Not too small, not too big… Vacheron Constantin got it just right.?
