Hands-On A. Lange & Sohne Langematik Perpetual Limited Blue 2021
When A. Lange & Sohne unveiled the Langematik Perpetual in 2001, it was the first mechanical wristwatch to combine a perpetual calendar with Lange's signature outsize date. Revisited in different case materials over the years, the 20th anniversary of the Langematik Perpetual is celebrated with two models, one in white gold the other in pink gold, both with a striking blue dial and limited to 50 pieces each.Just seven years after Lange's resuscitation in 1994, the Saxon watchmaker launched one of the finest perpetual calendars on the scene today. Flexing its horological muscles, Lange's perpetual calendar stands out from other calendar watches with its patented zero-reset mechanism and corrector to advance all the calendar displays simultaneously. The perpetual calendar functions account for the different durations of the months, including leap years and, once the watch is correctly set and kept ticking, you won't have to adjust the date display until 2100. The Battle of High-End Chronographs Part 3 - Patek vs. Lange... The Verdict - Monochrome Watches
Having reviewed both the A. Lange & Sohne 1815 Chronograph and the Patek Philippe Chronograph 5172G manual-winding chronographs in previous days, today it's time for a face-off between these two premium contenders. Both are undeniably beautiful examples of the ‘pure-chronograph-no-additional-complications genre’ and both are impeccably crafted. But they are as different as chalk and cheese, so please, take a ringside seat and see if you agree with our verdict in the battle of high-end chronographs pitting the Lange versus the Patek.Case Size, Presence and MaterialPatek Philippe's ref. 5172G has a 41mm diameter and a height of 11.45mm, A. Lange & Sohne's 1815 Chronograph measures 39.5mm with a height of 11mm. Both models feature lateral pushers for the chronograph functions, but that's about where the similarities end. Although the Patek is slightly larger than the Lange, it sits flatter on the wrist thanks to the stepped design of the case and

Prior to the SIHH 2018, back in December, IWC introduced a series of 4 watches, including one very surprising watch. A stand-alone piece, not included in any of the existing collections, the IWC Tribute to Pallweber is a watch specifically created for the 150th Anniversary of the Schaffhausen-based brand. This re-edition of one of the greatest pocket-watches IWC ever made is now available in steel, still with the same?digital hours and minute display. The Tribute to Pallweber is a completely original watch, a vintage reedition, not of a famed 1960s piece but based on one of the most iconic pocket-watches ever manufactured by IWC, the?Pallweber. This 1884 piece showed a fascinating display based on a digital indication of both the hours and minutes - a first back then. Developed in 1884 and based on the Pallweber system developed by a Salzburg-based watchmaker, Josef Pallweber, it showed the hours and minutes with large numerals on rotating discs. Hands-On: The "Albino-Like" Tudor Black Bay GMT Opaline Dial
The difference a dial can make… We’ve said it countless times, but a simple change of dial colour can truly transform a watch. And the new opaline silvery-white dial of the Black Bay GMT introduced earlier this year at Watches & Wonders is there to make a point. For several years, this watch has been, at least in my books, too close to what was doing with its Pepsi GMT-Master II. But Tudor is in its emancipation period. The teenager is turning into an adult and takes his own decisions. While this new white dial makes the Black Bay GMT stand independently, what truly matters is the vibe, the non-official inspiration… Because what you’re looking at is an evocation of an elusive, mythical, maybe questionable but truly desirable watch, the so-called Albino GMT…?There’s a new dial on the Tudor Black Bay GMT. I know, many can argue that it isn’t a big deal. Objectively, this is the exact same watch as before, just in a new colour. In most insta
