News: Frederic Arnault Named CEO of LVMH Watches, Julien Tornare CEO of TAG Heuer
For some months now, we’ve heard and seen evidence that things were about to change at LVMH, a reshuffling strategy that industry insiders love to call the musical chairs of management. Things are now official as Julien Tornare, ex-CEO of Zenith, becomes CEO of TAG Heuer. He’s replaced in this role by Benoit de Clerck, who previously was COO of?Panerai, a branch of LVMH’s competitor, the Richemont Group. However, while many insiders expected Frederic Arnault, the son of the Group’s owner Bernard Arnault and ex-CEO of TAG Heuer, to take the lead at Bulgari, things appear different. Instead, he’ll take the position of CEO of LVMH Watches (a new role), overseeing Hublot, TAG Heuer and Zenith.?Frederic Arnault, ex-CEO of TAG Heuer, now appointed to a newly-created role, CEO of LVMH Watches29-year-old Frederic Arnault, who joined TAG Heuer in 2018 as Head of Strategy, later to become CEO of the company in 2020, has just been promoted to a different position, th
GIVE AWAY: 3 Books, Cufflinks and Pilot Sunglasses from IWC - Monochrome Watches
Team Monochrome has just returned from a week in Switzerland where we visited Omega and MCT Watches. It was a great week, and it’s just awesome to meet old & new friends. The odometer in our cars gained a few thousand kilometers and after the week we had to recharge a bit. Now it’s time for the next sweepstake! This is the first sweepstake with gifts from IWC Schaffhausen and I’m pretty sure you will find some things of your liking. Shortly after the summer we will do a second IWC sweepstake (don’t miss that one!), however now I’d like to show you three beautiful books, a pair of IWC cufflinks and Ray-Ban Pilot Sunglasses.?Like with all our 10th anniversary sweepstakes we ask you to answer a few questions. This time we’d like to hear if there’s a discrepancy between the watches you look for and the watches that you actually buy. Maybe you have a weak spot for divers watches, and always end up buying another dress watch. For me it has been v
Hands-On Patek Philippe 5270P-014 Perpetual Chronograph Green Dial
If you think of an ultra-classic, almost conservative but also emblematic watch of Patek Philippe (and don’t mention the Nautilus… today we’re talking high-end watchmaking), it would certainly take the shape of a Perpetual Calendar Chronograph. Born in 1941 with the reference 1518, this combination of complications is clearly a hallmark of the brand and the current version of this watch, the 5270, is one of the most traditional models made by Patek… Well, it was, until this year. Because now, with the new 5270P-014, gone are the days of the restrained silver or dark blue dials. Now, it’s time for the 4th generation of Patek’s perpetual calendar chronograph and it’s not the conservative watch you’ve come to expect anymore. It’s bold, it’s colourful, it has a new dial layout, and in fact, it’s almost as if this new deep green gradient and lacquered dial was part of an entirely new watch.?The first generation of 5270, launc
Introducing All Panerai Submersible QuarantaQuattro of Watches and Wonders 2022
On the occasion of Watches & Wonders 2022, Panerai introduces a new case size to its Submersible collection. As its name suggests, the Submersible QuarantaQuattro will now be available in a 44mm diameter that joins the existing 47mm and 42mm sizes. The new Submersible model retains all the characteristics of the collection, which is based on the emblematic Luminor case with its distinctive shape and patented crown lock device. What sets it apart is its unidirectional rotating bezel. Concealed behind the solid caseback is the automatic P.900 calibre (ValFleurier based) with hours, minutes, small seconds, date indication and three days of power reserve. The brand also introduces a new Goldtech version of the original, streamlined Luminor Calendario Perpetuo.Submersible QuarantaQuattro PAM01229, PAM01226 & PAM01232Three interpretations of the Submersible QuarantaQuattro (forty-four) debut in the collection. Two steel models in a white dial/green rubber strap or black dial/black ru
Vacheron Constantin FIFTYSIX Self-Winding and Complete Calendar with Blue Dials (Hands-On) - Monochrome Watches
This year, Vacheron Constantin will introduce striking blue dials to its popular FIFTYSIX collection. While it may be an obvious iteration for the brand, it is certainly not an unwelcome one, adding another element to Vacheron's entry-level offering. Today, we're taking a quick look at the new FIFTYSIX Self-Winding and FIFTYSIX Complete Calendar dressed in blue.By way of a quick refresher, Vacheron introduced the FIFTYSIX collection last year at SIHH 2018. Intended very much as an entry-level range designed to attract younger buyers to the brand, it was initially met with mixed reviews. Some - including us here at MONOCHROME - found the idea of an affordable' (relatively speaking, of course) watch a bit at odds with the brand's prestigious reputation for Haute Horlogerie.
