Made with exemplary skill and expertise this watch speaks for itself. The brilliant blue dial demands attention with silver-toned Arabic numerals and hands. The three subdials set within the dial display 60 seconds, 30 minutes and 12 hours respectively. The bezel of the watch is fixed stainless steel topped with a blue ceramic Tachymeter. The stainless steel bracelet adds a classic final touch to the watch.

Collector's Series - @NYCWATCHGUY And His Urwerk UR-220 Falcon
A collector active on Instagram, @NYCWATCHGUY lives in the Greatest City in the World (his words), New York, and works as a venture capitalist but at heart, he is a watch meme maker. His many talents inspired him to a hobby we can all relate to; collecting watches. His journey started out traditionally but led him to more out there' watches. His Urwerk UR-220 Falcon is not the first watch of the brand to be featured in the Collector's Series, but clearly is one of the most impressive.Frank Geelen, MONOCHROME – How did you find out about Urwerk? Ad - Scroll to continue with article @NYCWATCHGUY – I definitely came across Urwerk casually on watch blogs in the early days of my watch collecting journey (around 2012). I always thought they were cool, but as someone who just owned a starter Zenith at the time (and the state of my bank account), making the
Baselworld 2012 - Schnitzel Dinner and the Timezone Watch of the Year 2011 - Monochrome Watches
In stead of the usual Weekly Watch Photo I share some photos made by friends. No photos of a watch, but photos of a dinner we enjoyed during Baselworld. A dinner that also?was the award ceremony of the Timezone Watch of the Year 2011.A few weeks ago, during Baselworld 2012, I organized what was supposed to be a small informal dinner for independent watchmakers and online journalists. The responses were?overwhelming?and we could skip the word ‘small’, however it was still informal and a lot of fun. Luckily Gerard from In2watches and Ben from Hodinkee made great photos that evening and allowed me to use their photos. Thanx guys!Let’s take a little look at what happened before…Guests arrived at the restau
Introducing: Hanhart Resuscitates its White Pilot with the 417 ES Moby Dick
Hanhart, the German brand that started life in Switzerland as a manufacturer of stopwatches before relocating to Germany in 1902, gained renown as a producer of Flieger (pilot's) chronographs. In the mid-1950s, Hanhart built the 417, the first pilot's chronograph for the German Armed Forces, with an emphasis on robustness, reliability, and readability. In circulation until 1963, the 417 was retired, allowing Hanhart to focus on stopwatches. But there was another lesser-known Hanhart 417 waiting in the wings, known among collectors as the Moby Dick. Identical in build to the 417 but with a white dial, the Moby Dick was adopted by admirals and doctors in the navy and, given its scarcity, had become a coveted collector's piece. The vintage watch that was used as an inspiration for the new 417 ES Moby DickIn 2020, Hanhart reissued the legendary 417 pilot's chronograph. While the case and dial faithfully respected many traits of its ancestor, the modern version of the Hanhart 417 ES reflecte
Introducing: The New Panerai Luminor Marina Collection in Steel
Although the Florentine brand Panerai was founded in 1860, its contract with the Italian Royal Navy to produce precision instruments changed its destiny radically. Panerai's 1916 radium-based powder, known as Radiomir, lit up the brand's future as a supplier of luminescent instruments, underwater tools, and eventually watches for the Italian Royal Navy and its famous frogmen commandos. In 1949, Panerai replaced radioactive radium with Luminor, a harmless tritium-based luminescent substance. A few years later, Panerai patented its Luminor watch with its sandwich dial, outstanding luminescence and crown-protecting bridge. In 1993, the Luminor and Luminor Marina Militare were made available to civilians. Now a flagship collection, Panerai proposes four new Luminor Marina models in stainless steel with increased water-resistance, brighter luminescence and a new 3-day automatic movement. The Luminor Marina's prominent bridge protecting the crown is now responsible for ensuring the higher wat
