Interview Wilhelm Schmid on A. Lange & Sohne 2020 Novelties and COVID-19
Usually, we would start by saying “we sat down with Mr Schmid, CEO of A. Lange & Sohne, to discuss the brand’s newest releases” or something along those lines. Well, not today. Last week I met ‘virtually’ with Wilhelm Schmid during a Zoom meeting for an interview about the two novelties A. Lange & Sohne introduced during the (again, virtual) Watches & Wonders of this year. Only two novelties for A. Lange & Sohne and to be honest, no ground-breaking novelties either. However, Mr Schmid did give some insight into what’s to come and how the company is reacting to the current COVID-19 challenges in the short and long term.?A. Lange & Sohne introduced what insiders would call ‘animations’. An animation, for instance, could be a new dial colour or a case in a different material. The two new timepieces from Lange are the Zeitwerk Minute Repeater that now comes in white gold and a new Odysseus that also comes in white gold. Yo

Talking Watches, Blogging, Speedy Tuesday and Selling Watches with Fratello's Founder Robert-Jan Broer - Monochrome Watches
I guess you know Robert-Jan Broer, founder of the Fratellowatches online magazine, initiator of #SpeedyTuesday, and the Speedy Tuesday limited editions that OMEGA introduced in the past years. Robert-Jan and I met some fifteen years ago in The Hague, Netherlands, where both of us lived. We were both watch enthusiasts, and we craved more opportunities to talk about watches with like-minded folk. And both of us started a WordPress blog about the watches we loved so much, and for many years, we drove to Baselworld together. Robert-Jan got his Fratellowatches blog intertwined with Ebner Verlag, a German publishing house and later bought it back to team up with Chrono24. Over the past two years, Fratellowatches has gone from publishing to selling pre-owned watches, selling their own Limited Editions, and even new watches from some major watch brands. We’re talking with Robert-Jan Broer about his journey with Fratellowatches.? On the road to Basel… Who’

Following our previous guides about the best sports watches, the best dress watches and the best ultra-complicated watches of 2016, it’s time for us now to look at one of the main watch categories of them all, and I mean by that the chronographs. The Collector's Series: Bringing The Light On The Unusual Patek Philippe Neptune
When you think about sporty Patek Philippe watches in stainless steel with aquatic references, names such as Nautilus and Aquanaut will be at the centre of the conversation. Both iconic models, both highly coveted, both around for several decades. But there's another watch that completes the trilogy. A watch that is much rarer and far less conventional. Still, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and Gaurav Rekhi (@HighendTime on Instagram), a long-time Patek Philippe admirer, perfectly summarises this. Although he loves his Nautilus and his Aquanaut, it's his Patek Philippe Neptune 5085 he highlights for our Collector's Series.Frank Geelen, MONOCHROME – How did you personally get introduced to the brand??Gaurav Rekhi –?You never actually own a Patek Philippe. You merely look after it for the next generation is what the ad said, and I, being a young banker on Wall Street in the summer of 1998, was completely hooked.? Like many other lovers of horology, this was my first in
