Bvlgari Octo Roma Worldtimer (Hands-On)
Alongside the GMT and the Chronograph, a Worldtimer can be considered one of the most practical, everyday complications. And with the world opening up to travel, the practicality of such a watch makes sense again. It comes as no surprise that many manufacturers have a GMT or a world timer in the collection. New for 2021, Bvlgari introduces the Bvlgari Octo Roma Worldtimer in two distinct versions: classic steel-and-blue and stealthy black DLC.The Octo Roma is not to be confused with the Octo Finissimo, although the two share a similar design language. The Octo Roma is the softer, more mellow interpretation of the octagonal and circular shapes that all Octos follow. It is also positioned as less complex, featuring slightly simpler cases and a sportier look. Next to that, it's a bit more affordable as well. However, it is by no means any less Bvlgari. Hands-On: How Good is the new Tudor Black Bay 58 GMT?
Let’s not go into too many details… This watch, the Tudor Black Bay 58 GMT, was one of the most anticipated, most discussed and most appealing watches of the fair. Somehow, in its category of watches made for “normal people” (I’m here excluding highly complex or ultra-luxurious watches that only a few can afford), it stole the show. Why…? First of all, it’s finally here. Many watch enthusiasts have been waiting for a smaller, slimmer GMT watch by Tudor and this Black Bay 58 GMT is the answer to so many requests expressed to Tudor by the community (is it the right answer…? Maybe, but not entirely). Second, because it is once again a highly compelling watch, with a level of equipment and quality that few can rival in this category. How good is it, both technically, visually and on the wrist? Let’s find out.?The Tudor GMT people have been waiting for?Let’s go back in time a bit… The Tudor Black Bay, also known as the corner
Just Because: Patek Philippe Discontinues the Nautilus Moonphase 5712A, and Some Predictions for its Future
Models come and go from brands’ portfolios. There’s nothing extraordinary in this, it’s just standard practice and lifecycle management. , for example, did it last year with the Yacht-Master II Regatta Chronograph (not necessarily a bad idea…) Patek Philippe is no stranger to this concept, as we’ve seen in the past – basically every year, the Geneva-based watchmaker cleans its collections. Yet, from time to time, some of these discontinuations make more noise than others… Remember in 2021 when Patek Philippe announced the end of the classic blue dial Nautilus 5711A…? It came as a shock. Of course, it was followed by a sought-after, short-produced green edition, later to make room for the 5811G in white gold. But still, it somehow hurt fans and collectors. Well, we’re here today with some bad news, as the other all-important steel Nautilus, the Moonphase 5712A, is reportedly discontinued (no more listed at patek.com). The end of an
Pre-Baselworld 2019 - Anonimo Nautilo Vintage - More Retro-Styled and Smaller (Specs & Price)
A brand built on the ashes of the Italian branch of Panerai, founded by a naval engineer and former head of the aforementioned watchmaker, is obligated to have a dive watch in the collection. For over 12 years now, the Nautilo has been part of the Anonimo line-up, interpreted in various guises - see here,?here or here. New for 2019 and launched as a preview to Baselworld is a more retro – or vintage-inspired – take on its cool Nautilo, with the Anonimo Nautilo Vintage. And good news for a lot of people: it's smaller! At first glance, there is not much new going on here, other than a change in design. You still get the trademark cushion-shaped case and the crown at 4 to prevent it from digging into your wrist. However, there are some (positive) novelties, such as the reduced diameter, a slightly softer appearance and the vintage or retro inspiration of the watch. Ad - Scroll to continue with article
