The evocative Cartier Masse Mysterieuse flips your senses upside-down
Cartier has always had a knack for creating evocative, expressive watches riddled with innovation. Its portfolio is filled with fascinating pieces like the Tank Asymetrique, Crash Skeleton, Cloche de Cartier and Rotonde de Cartier. Throughout the years Cartier manages to walk the fine line between refined elegance, traditional craftsmanship and an unbridled push for creativity and modernity. Perhaps the best example is Cartier's love for mystery and illusion, with watches and clocks not revealing all their secrets and leaving you baffled about how it actually works. And that element of mystique is perfectly captured in the new Cartier Masse Mysterieuse. Before going into details, we have to admit we're not entirely 100% sure how this watch works. Sure, we're familiar with the concept of the Mystery watches and clocks by Cartier, and we have read a press release of course, but to grasp the way the Masse Mysterieuse ticks is a challenge. Hands-on with the very original De Rijke & Co x Miffy Special Edition
The use of comic book characters or cartoon personalities in watchmaking isn’t new. However, we’ve recently seen a successful?revival of the classical Character Watches. Watches incorporating Mickey Mouse, Snoopy or Popeye have become very popular lately, and we can surely expect more to come in the future. Small-time Dutch independent watchmaker De Rijke & Co. now enters this humorous field of watchmaking with something very, very cool: Nijntje, or “Miffy” for non-Dutch people. This iconic little rabbit created by Dick Bruna is known the world over and now finds its way into a mechanical watch for the very first time. And we have the exclusive world premiere of this very fun and limited De Rijke & Co. x Miffy Moonphase.Dick Bruna & Nijntje/MiffyTo explain who or what Miffy is – for those who have no clue or need their memories refreshed – Miffy is a small rabbit-like character developed by Dick Bruna, perhaps the most famous Dutch graphi
Weekly Watch Photo - Gronefeld One Hertz Techniek Nocturne - Monochrome Watches
After more then two years of Weekly Watch Photos, we’re now at the 118’s edition of Monochrome’s Weekly Watch Photo. And to celebrate the new design of Monochrome, we go entirely Dutch. Monochrome’s Dutch roots combined with the Dutch watch brand Gronefeld – you know we love the One Hertz – and a Dutch photographer who specialized in watch photos, Bert Buijsrogge. Sounds like a great mix, but I’ll let you be the judge of that.?Bert’s photos have been featured here before. Just think of the excellent photos he made of the Hautlence HL Ti-02 and the photos he used for his Watch Calendar, like these or these?or this one. Besides being a very skilled photographer, Bert also knows how to present watches. He always presents a watch in a certain atmosphere, that always perfectly matches that particular watch. Gronefeld’s latest creation, the One Hertz Techniek Nocturne, is photographed in dark Gotham City like spheres…. Ad
First Look: The Hot Pink Oris ProPilot X Miss Piggy Edition
The English phrase pigs might fly is used to express the impossibility of something happening. Well, Oris has just given wings to one of the most famous pigs in popular culture with its new ProPilot X Miss Piggy. Combining the sharp looks of the ProPilot X Collection in a reduced 34mm steel case with a hot pink dial, the new watch would have provoked a rush of compliments (in French) from Miss Piggy, the fabulous diva from The Muppet Show. Following the green ProPilot X Kermit Edition, this second collaboration with The Muppets will delight fans of Jim Henson's larger-than-life pig in a platinum wig – or create a bit of a storm for more conservative members of the watch community.?A somewhat surprising model to honour the glamorous Muppet character, Oris has chosen its ProPilot X case, the brand's edgiest and most contemporary model. While the brand is renowned for its historical aviation classics like the Big Crown Pointer Date, the 44mm ProPilot X of 2019 was envisioned as a ne
