Hands-On Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding 34mm
It might be smaller than your average Royal Oak, but there is no mistaking the lineage of these 34mm models. All the salient Royal Oak traits are now housed in a more condensed case, an ideal size for smaller wrists and a solid unisex proposal. Although 34mm might strike you as small in a line-up of watches represented in diameters of 44, 42, 41, 39, 38 and 37mm, there is another even smaller model with a 33mm diameter but fitted with a quartz movement. There must be demand for quartz models because the 33mm is not going to be replaced by the mechanical 34mm. Fitted with a specifically designed self-winding movement, the new Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding 34mm comes in steel, pink gold and two-tone case options, with or without diamonds. The full Royal Oak packageThe new cases measure 34mm and have a restrained thickness of 8.8mm. A Royal Oak through and through, the dynamic angles of the case are surmounted by the iconic octagonal bezel with eight gold screws. With its brushed a
Introducing // Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 150m, Now in Blue or Green
We’ve said it in the past already, but if you’re looking for a great daily luxury watch, which combines enough resistance for the weekend and casual elegance for business days, Omega certainly has one of the best options on the market: the Seamaster Aqua Terra 150m Master Chronometer. Sleek and discreet, robust too, it combines multiple advantages and is available in multiple colours. To give the collection an extra boost, the brand unveils two new versions with colourful dials. Meet the new Green and Blue Aqua Terra watches for 2020.The Aqua Terra is Omega’s definition of the “one-watch collection”. A watch that you can use all day, every day, everywhere and that can withstand pretty much all situations. It can be worn with a pair of jeans and sneakers, it can resist a relatively deep dive, it can be worn with a suit and still, it will feel appropriate. It might not be the fanciest, most exclusive and complicated piece that you’ll encounter, but it
Omega Goes Anti-Magnetic With The Master Co-Axial Calibres - the first truly anti-magnetic mechanical movement in the watch industry - Monochrome Watches
No, we’re NOT going to talk about a watch, we’re talking about movements. Omega starts introducing the new Master Co-Axial movements into the collection with 8 new calibres. These new calibres are the first truly anti-magnetic mechanical movements in the watch industry and they can easily resist magnetic fields up to 15,000 Gauss. That’s simply brilliant you’re going to love them for it. Read on to find out why! Last year we already told you about this movement, although Omega didn’t reveal anything else than the mere fact it can easily resist magnetic field of 1,5 Tesla (15,000 Gauss). In that article we explained everything you need to know about magnetism and mechanical watches, because the two don’t go very well together. Until now that is! Omega is revolutionizing mechanical watch-making. Ad - Scroll to continue with article
Announcing - We're expanding and Tom Mulraney and Matthew Catellier are joining MONOCHROME - Monochrome Watches
It is with great pleasure that we welcome two gentlemen?to the Monochrome team, who will be helping us out to cover what we at Monochrome feel are great watches. The Monochrome selection so to say. Tom is Monochrome’s “man in London” and will cover everything that’s important, horologically speaking, from the UK and London in particular, while Matthew will be handling our selection of value propositions and cool Kickstarter brands.Tom Mulraney joins as Monochrome's unofficial “man in London” and will be covering everything from boutique openings, events or?in-depth hands-on reviews.?I first met Tom via email many, many years ago when we were both starting out as aspiring watch bloggers. At that time I hadn't met too many watch nuts from Down Under but I am pleased to say our paths have crossed many times since over the years, most often during the madness that is Baselworld. News: Antonio Calce named CEO of Sowind Group (Girard-Perregaux & JeanRichard) - Monochrome-Watches
The game of musical chairs is not over. For the past months, the watch industry was the field of?multiple departures and appointments, including at the giants like and?TAG Heuer. It is now time for Sowind, the mother company of Girard-Perregaux and JeanRichard, to finally appoint a new CEO. Just before Baselworld, the arrival of Antonio Calce should be seen as a?deliverance for the brands, which have been without a CEO for more than four months. With?the arrival of?Jean-Frederic Dufour as new CEO of ,?and of Jean-Claude Biver as CEO of all watch brands of the LVMH Group (see here) and now also CEO of TAG Heuer, after Stephane Linder’s?resignation, the watch industry was extremely active in changing its leaders. Should it be seen as a sign of an active and creative industry that wants to innovate and modernize?or as a last resort?reaction against a complicated market? Time will tell us. Today, our focus is on a brand that we, at Monochrome-Watches, really love: the manufacture G
