Weekly Watch Photo - A. Lange & Sohne Still Lifes - Monochrome Watches
This week we’ll start with some rather unusual watch photos, or should I say pieces of art. The photos that we present you today are made by A. Lange & Sohne’s forum moderator at Timezone.com, Edwin. A few weeks ago we used some of his photos of the A. LAnge & Sohne Richard Lange Pour le Merite and today we’ll show you some 16th and 17th century style still lifes featuring Edwin’s Datograph, Lange 1 and the mighty Double Split.Last week’s photographer, GEO, was probably one of the very first to share extremely stylish photos of his watches. Edwin, who started a bit later, is probably one of the best amateur still life photographers that we came across. Although it is weird to call this amateur level. The photos we showed you the other week were still lifes with food, today’s photos are still lifes in the style of the 17th century Dutch masters, like Ambrosius Bosschaert, Balthasar van der Ast, or 18th century French painter Anne Vallayer-Cost
Recap: The Best Dress Watches of 2024
As the end of the year draws nigh, the festive season kicks off with Christmas parties, New Year's Eve celebrations and gatherings that dominate our agendas. In short, it is the perfect time of the year to suit up. And that means having the right watch to match your fancy attire, pairing it with your cocktail dress or tuxedo. And yes, the classic dress watch, as we’ve come to know it for many years, has changed, becoming more daring, less formal and more colourful. But that doesn’t change the fact that once again in 2024, we have seen the release of supremely elegant watches. Here are our top 5 Dress Watches of the year.?Chopard L.U.C XPS Forest Green in Lucent SteelSeeing a Chopard L.U.C. making this list shouldn’t be a surprise. It’s long been agreed by the watch community that the brand creates some of the most elegant watches on the market: that’s not an opinion; it’s a fact. The reason we selected this specific model over other potential candida
Perry and his Nomos Tangente Sport Datum 531 - Monochrome Watches
The attraction, the reasons that drive us towards a certain kind of watch, the lack of rationale behind the love for a timepiece and then the hunt for THAT special one. Behind most watch acquisitions there's a story, a motivation to go for one particular version and not another, subjective factors that explain why one is drawn to a specific brand, and very often contradictions come into the equation. Today's instalment of The Collector's Series is all about that. At first,?Perry would have imagined Nomos to be his last choice, for reasons he'll explain. But still, he'll try (very) hard for that Tangente Sport Datum 531 to become his next purchase. And here's why. What drew you to Nomos as a brand to begin with? Ad - Scroll to continue with article I feel that Nomos is simply one of the coolest companies around. To my knowledge, they are one of the only fully inde
Tzoumy watches - unique pentagonal watches launching on Kickstarter
When it comes to watches, there are three, maybe four basic shapes people can expect. The most obvious shape is of course round, simple as that. On the other end of the spectrum, we have watches with a square case. Other than that, we can distinguish cushion-, tonneau-, or helmet-shaped watches but that’s pretty much it. Well, not anymore, as Yvan Monnet is presenting the pentagon-shaped Tzoumy Watches collection, now available on Kickstarter.Yvan Monnet is a Swiss-born watchmaker, formerly working for prestigious brands like Patek Phillipe and Vacheron Constantin. In 2016 he presented a very limited series of watches under his own name, with a unique pentagonal shape for the case and dial. In June last year, a chance encounter with Gerrit Spalteholz, lead to a new project called Tzoumy Watches. A little over a year later, the original pentagonal design by Yvan Monnet is reinterpreted into a new collection, launched via a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. Ad - Scro
First Look: New Editions of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Duoface Small Seconds
The Tribute Duoface Small Seconds stands out as one of the finest modern expressions of the timeless Reverso by Jaeger-LeCoultre. First presented in 1994, the Duoface concept does not offer caseback engraving options. Instead, it compensates with the added functionality of a second time zone display on the reverse side, making full use of its flipping case. This year, two new stainless steel versions, in blue or black, join the collection, bringing out the typical versatile and sophisticated appeal of the Reverso. The latest additions to the Reverso Tribute Duoface Small Seconds series maintain the same case design and dimensions as their predecessors, meaning 47mm x 28.3mm x 10.34mm, with a water resistance of 30 meters. The inner surface of the case holder is decorated with a sunray pattern.? The key updates lie in the dial design: a black or vivid blue front dial paired with a redesigned reverse dial featuring a silver sunray finish instead of the traditional clous de Paris pattern.
