Bvlgari Octo Finissimo Perpetual Calendar Tantalum Only Watch 2021
Bvlgari will be participating for the first time in the Only Watch auction in Geneva on Saturday, 6 November 2021. Held every two years, Only Watch auctions unique timepieces to fund research into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. The watch Bvlgari will be donating is an exceptional version of its Octo Finissimo Perpetual Calendar. Released earlier this year, the Octo Finissimo is the world's thinnest QP and marks Bvlgari's seventh record in the arena of ultra-thin watches. To mark the occasion, the 2.75mm thin automatic QP movement is housed in a 5.80mm case made of rare tantalum, a beguiling metal that is resistant to corrosion, biocompatible, twice as heavy as steel and twice as hard as titanium.Bvlgari's 7 ultra-thin record breakersIt might be Olympic season, but nothing can eclipse the seven gold medals Bvlgari has taken home for its ultra-thin Octo Finissimo watches since 2014. Ultra-thin movements, considered an art in themselves, are devilishly difficult to create and mastered by ju
The Breitling Navitimer 8 Collection, Georges Kerns First Creation as CEO of Breitling - Monochrome Watches
After he unexpectedly?left IWC and joined Breitling as the new CEO, Georges Kern was under the radar… We were all waiting for the first novelty to come out of the Grenchen-based manufacture. And today, here THEY come. Indeed, it’s not a watch but a full collection named the?Breitling Navitimer 8, which we introduce to you today. Five different models, five different displays, five different movements, one entirely new concept. There was a lot of talk about what Kern was about to launch… The answer is a pilot watch, obviously. Let’s take a look at Kern’s debut.Don’t be fooled by the “Navitimer” in the name of this new collection. In fact, it hasn’t got much in common with the iconic pilot watch. At least, don’t consider the new?Breitling Navitimer 8 collection as an extension of the existing “Navi” collection, but as an independent and new offer from the pilot-oriented brand. Don’t be scared though, as the?Bre
Pre Baselworld 2014: Introducing the Bvlgari Octo Chrono - Monochrome Watches
Fifteen years ago, in 1999, luxury brand Bvlgari bought Gerald Genta’s watch company and until this day they manufacture watches and introduce new watches, which are (heavily) inspired on Genta’s designs. Just like the Octo Automatic, which was introduced last year, and so is the new Octo Chrono that we can introduce to you today. A bold and rugged design – typical Genta – and it features a magnificent El Primero column-wheel chronograph movement. The press release calls the new Octo a combination of Italian genius and Swiss perfection. All we can say, is that Bvlgari did a good job in merging Genta’s design into a contemporary chic sports chronograph. With a movement like the El Primero, you simply can’t go wrong. The strong characteristic lines of the Octo Chronograph’s design on the other hand, will probably be more polarizing, but that’s exactly what Genta’s design often did. First Look: The New TAG Heuer Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph
The anticipation soared when TAG Heuer unveiled a one-of-a-kind Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph for Only Watch in 2023, sparking hopes for its integration into the permanent collection. While the brand had previously dabbled in split-seconds or rattrapante chronographs during the 1960s, primarily as stopwatches for sporting events, it wasn’t until quartz technology that this functionality found its way into wristwatches. Despite this legacy, the mechanical split-seconds chronograph eluded TAG Heuer’s repertoire until last year. With the introduction of the new calibre TH81-00, TAG Heuer has finally re-entered the realm of rattrapante, marking a significant milestone. For its debut, the new TAG Heuer Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph arrives in two versions, each distinguished by racing red or classic Monaco-blue accents and echoing the avant-garde design ethos of the Only Watch edition. Encased within a black DLC-coated titanium 41mm square-shaped, 15.2 mm thick case, which
