Hands-On Code 11.59 Flying Tourbillon Chronograph Black Ceramic 26399NR
For autumn 2022, Audemars Piguet will be introducing a dash of coloured ceramic to some of the more complicated watches, including members of its Code 11.59 collection. Aware of the fact that there are few marriages in the watch world sexier than pink gold and black ceramic, AP has chosen this provocative dress code for its complex Code 11.59 Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon Chronograph. More than just a two-tone case, which AP has already toyed with in the past, this model takes the black and pink gold colour scheme all the way into the heart of the skeletonised movement. We met the Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon Chronograph a year ago in a white gold case with blue lacquered details on the flange and chronograph counters. This year's model shares identical specifications but sails in with a devastatingly attractive combination of pink gold and black ceramic. Aware of the effect that pink gold holds to highlight certain features and black ceramic to attenuate others, the large deep case of
Audemars Piguet Millenary Star Wheel reviewed - Monochrome Watches
Monochrome had the chance to wear a very rare Audemars Piguet for two weeks. We bring you a review of the Audemars Piguet Millenary Star Wheel!Recently a good friend said he was going to sell his Audemars Piguet Millenary Star Wheel. This is one of those watches we always enjoy seeing at collector's dinners and other watchgeek meetings. However this one is so rare that chances you come across one are very rare. So we had to jump to the occasion… Ad - Scroll to continue with article We would like to thank the owner for letting us wear, photograph and review this magnificent timepiece. We believe the Audemars Piguet Star Wheel models to be landmark pieces in watchmaking history and we always wondered how much inspiration Felix Baumgartner and Martin Frei, from URWERK, found in the Audemars Piguet??Star Wheel. This particular version was released by Audemars P
In-Depth: Diving With The New Aquastar Model 60
Aquastar made a name for itself in the early 1960s as one of the first purveyors of purpose-built dive watches. Starting as a company that made watches and other maritime instruments, it became one of the most well-known watch brands for serious SCUBA divers and underwater professionals. It found a certain type of fame on the wrists of everyone from Jacques Cousteau’s team of explorers to US Navy Lieutenant Don Walsh, who wore an Aquastar while aboard the bathyscaphe Trieste for his pioneering journey to the bottom of Challenger Deep at a record-breaking depth of 10,911 metres (for the record, the Deep Sea Special was strapped outside, some Longines stopwatches were onboard, and Walsh was wearing an Aquastar). After a bit of a lull during the quartz crisis, Aquastar was revived in 2020 by none other than Rick Marei, the man famous for rejuvenating another esoteric dive watch brand, Doxa. Today, we take the brand’s latest creation underwater, the Aquastar Model 60, a tribu
The New Patek Philippe ref. 5200G - Gondolo 8 Days with Day & Date Indication - Monochrome Watches
Patek Philippe just introduced a new reference in their collection, which might easily become a future classic. The new ref. 5200G (the G refers to its white gold case) is part of the Gondolo collection and features an 8-Days manually wound movement with a day and date indicator. Albeit ref. 5200G is an entirely new model, it shares some similarities with two other Gondolo models, both the ref.5124 and the legendary ref.?5100 10-Day Power Reserve?Millennium Edition, nicknamed?“Manta Ray.”The Gondolo collection finds its inspiration in Art Deco and offers less common case shapes, like tonneau, rectangular, square and cushion shaped cases. Launched in 1993, this collection was named after the “Chronometro Gondolo” watches that Patek Philippe designed for the renowned Brazilian retailer Gondolo & Labouriau in the early 1900’s. Just look at the side of the new 5200G’s case and you’ll immediately recognize the Art Deco influences. Ad
TAG Heuer Formula 1 No.33 Max Verstappen 2017 Limited Edition - Monochrome Watches
Before you burn me on the stakes, yes, I am well aware this is a quartz watch and we very rarely cover these. This time I am being chauvinistic and taking a break from our self-implied guidelines to bring you a watch for the simple reason it is linked to a young Dutch hero to many of my fellow countrymen, and a rising Formula 1 star; Max Verstappen. Launched in Amsterdam just days ago, here is our hands-on report of the new Tag Heuer Formula 1 No.33 Max Verstappen Limited Edition. The youngster needs no introduction, neither does the Tag Heuer Formula 1 collection. After all, the brand is thoroughly embedded in the history of the sport as the official timing partner for years, and Max has already debuted as a brand ambassador for Tag Heuer with his orange strapped (and very Dutch looking) Tag Heuer Formula 1 Max Verstappen Special Edition introduced last year. For a few years now the brand has also been the official engine supplier for Red Bull Racing too, although this is solely a mark
