Konstantin Chaykin Takes On The Silver Screen! - Monochrome Watches
The Russian genius returns with another incredible creation! Once again culling inspiration from the pages of history, the Cinema watch pays homage to an inventor from a bygone era.?The last time we caught up with Konstantin Chaykin it was to discuss the Levitas watch; a watch whose inspiration drew back to Robert Houdin's early 19th century Mystery Dial' clocks. Now it seems that he has turned to a different kind of magic, movie magic to build an incredibly clever and whimsical watch! The Eadweard Muybridge Cinema Watch is a 31 jewel, manual wind movement with 48 hours power reserve, creation telling the wearer time in hours and minutes. The first impression I had of the shape and layout of the 37mm by 47mm stainless steel case was that of a medium-format camera something old-fashioned at a minimum. By pressing the button at 9 o'clock on the case, an image of a horse and rider galloping appears! See for yourself! Ad - Scroll to continue with article
New Lange & Sohne - Zeitwerk - Monochrome Watches
A Lange & Sohne just released a new watch, the Lange Zeitwerk. Time is displayed not with hands, but with digits. Although this is not something completely new, A Lange & Sohne made a pretty new watch with impressive complications. A Lange & Sohne’s new Zeitwerk, or translated Timework, features jumping hours and minutes, a small seconds hand with stop seconds and a power-reserve indicator. Besides the rare features visible from the dial side, they also incorporated a remontoire or constant-force escapement.A Lange & Sohne Zeitwerk in white goldThe Zeitwerk comes in 3 colors of gold and in platinum. Measuring 41,9mm in diamter and 12,6mm thick, this is one of the larger watches made by Lange. The hours are displayed in the window at the left side of the dial and the minutes at the right side of the dial. On top a power reserve indicator tells you how much of the 36 hours of power reserve are left, before you have to wind the movement again. At the bottom of the di
Raymond Weil Freelancer Titanium Chronograph - Full Review (live photos, specs & price) - Monochrome-Watches
In a year that saw the passing of Raymond Weil's founder and namesake, the company's strong offerings signaled an enduring legacy. Musical appreciation and the arts, a continuous symbiosis with the company, likely led them to describe the Raymond Weil Freelancer?Titanium Chronograph as mezzo-piano, moderately soft. After several weeks of wear, we might choose mezzo-forte, moderately loud, for the bold character of its Freelancer roots, but the lightness of the Titanium does bring a softness to the wrist. When it comes to wide ranging versatility, this watch strikes the right note.Overall AppearanceFor a watch that is a sports chronograph, the Raymond Weil Freelancer?Titanium Chronograph also doubles as a debonair dress watch (13.7mm thick), giving it an immediate adaptability; a good all-in-one watch. In various activities, with a variety of clothes, this watch was at home. The only limitation, imperceptible to the eye, is its 10 ATM (100 meter) water resistance, which means its attrac
Hands-On Grand Seiko 44GS Hi-Beat Ice Blue SLGH013 (Specs, Price)
Multiple elements define Grand Seiko’s style, all gathered under an important set of rules known as the Grammar of Design. The instrument behind this series of guidelines was a watch known as the 44GS, a sharp and unmistakably GS watch born in 1967, and one that will set in stone what the brand’s creations will be for the future. We’ve seen multiple releases this year celebrating the 55th anniversary of the 44GS, such as the Hi-Beat GMT SBGJ255 and, considering today’s matters, the Hi-Beat Automatic SLGH009. And today, it’s time for this Calibre 9SA5 to join the permanent 44GS collection, with the new?SLGH013 and its striking ice blue textured dial. And there are a few other things to know! The 44GS is a watch that can be considered instrumental in the history of Grand Seiko. It was, when released in 1967, the first model to apply designer?Taro T
