Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin 16202BA - Hands-On, Price
Last week, and you hardly can have missed it, Audemars Piguet presented a whole new collection of Royal Oak watches celebrating the 50th anniversary of the icon born in 1972. Among a dozen updated models, there was, of course, the brand new Jumbo, the reference 16202, which we’ve extensively reviewed in this article, in its all-time classic stainless steel version. But there’s more to the new Royal Oak Jumbo than just the steel model. In fact, AP has presented 4 different versions, including the one you see here, a bold and loud yellow gold watch with a smoked yellow-gold-toned dial. And I know I still have issues admitting it, but boy does it look cool! So yes, the Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin 16202BA is the latest addition to my “guilty pleasure watch” list.?I know I should be luring after the stainless steel Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin 16202ST, for everything it represents. Because it’s the most faithful version. Because it’s also far more in line wi
Longines Master Collection 190th Anniversary - Hands-On, Price
Longines can proudly flaunt its status as one of the oldest Swiss watch brands. Founded in 1832 in Saint-Imier, Longines celebrates the grand 190th anniversary of the brand with three commemorative pieces from its Master collection. Relying on an unusual mix of contemporary matte textured dials and hyper-classical engraved Breguet numerals, the Master Collection trilogy honours the past and present of the brand with great style. Here is the Longines Master Collection 190th Anniversary.Brief History of LonginesLongines has been airborne – uninterruptedly – since 1832. Surviving this long in any milieu depends a lot on innovation and efficiency and Longines combined both from the start. One of the most innovative ideas was to unite all production processes under one roof, rowing against the tide of the etablissage system where individual components were produced by different families and then assembled and sold by a comptoir, or trading office. By 1867, Longines had become a
TUDOR Announces Agreement With World Rugby, Reinforcing The Brands #BornToDare Campaign - Monochrome Watches
After welcoming David Beckham and Lady Gaga?as brand ambassadors and members of the #BornToDare campaign, followed by a partnership with world-famous rugby team the “All Blacks”, Tudor continues to expand its association in this direction, and today, in Monaco, the brand?announced a new agreement, this time with World Rugby, which includes a partnership with Rugby World Cups (and more), to reinforce the link between Tudor and the oval ball. This announcement?comes on top of the #BornToDare Campaign that was announced earlier this year (at Baselworld 2017.) It was not something that was expected, however Tudor is a growing brand and is reaching out to new audiences. In this field, teaming up with David Beckham and Lady Gaga were already significant steps, and these were soon followed by the announcement that it would be teaming up with the?leading rugby team The All Blacks, and actually, this makes sense. As a brand that focuses on a relatively young target group, they have t
TAG Heuer Monaco Calibre 11 France Edition CAW211S.FC6375 (Specs & Price)
What we have here is nothing especially new or highly innovative… However, it certainly is one very cool edition of one of the most iconic racing chronographs ever: the TAG Heuer Monaco Calibre 11 – you know, the watch worn by the “King of Cool”, Steve McQueen, in movie?Le Mans. Made especially for the French market (without a single reference to France in its design), very limited in production, and with a dial that recalls a certain “Dark Lord”, here is the?TAG Heuer Monaco Calibre 11 France Edition. What we have here is a sort of mix between several watches from the current catalogue (the Heritage-inspired Monaco?CAW211P and the Monza 40th anniversary) together with some elements of a precise vintage watch, the highly coveted and rare Monaco “Black Lord” (the one with a black-coated case and a black dial with orange accents). In short, a mix that could either be 1. quite dangerous and unbalanced, or?2,?a watch that can talk to vintage a
The Ultramarine Beluga Dive Watch (Specs & Price)
Dive watches have been a hot item since “The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau” hit the TV screens worldwide over 50 years ago, and rare is the watch company that does not offer a diver’s model. Within one price category, they often share a similar design, performance characteristics are usually on the level, and should you scrape off the brand name, they are the same when laid out in front of you on the table. So, what do you do? You search for something different, something that offers a little extra or strikes a chord. And the search may lead you to the Beluga, the dive watch that Ultramarine added recently to its short list of models.Lionel Bruneau, the founder of the young brand Ultramarine, explains that at one point, he decided to make 100% Swiss watches under his own brand name as he was not satisfied with the market offering of Swiss Made – with a requirement of only 60% of the components’ value to be of a Swiss origin. The Morse and Albatros, th
