Reservoir Supercharged Sport Jumping Hours/Retrograde Minutes Display (Specs & Price)
It is not the first time we talk about Reservoir Watches, a young brand that has made a name for itself with its cool, well-designed, original watches. Here, at MONOCHROME, we love the beauty of mechanics and novel ways of telling the time – and this Reservoir model, with its jumping hours and?retrograde minutes, satisfies us on both levels. But it also comes with a very attractive price tag…So, let’s invest in some quality time with the Reservoir Supercharged Sport. The combination of?jumping hours with retrograde minutes isn’t new. Some will remember Gerald Genta’s watches or more recently the Bvlgari Octo Retro watches. The main difference between the Reservoir and these watches lies in its price. While you’ll have to have a solid 5-digit amount of change in your pocket at Bvlgari, the Reservoir is priced below EUR 4,000 – a price range where you’d usually find jumping-hour-only watches, with a?normal?minute hand (for instance,?Meisters
Interview - Talking To Remi Maillat, The Man Behind Krayon Watches
Independent watchmaker Krayon was created a few years ago by Remi Maillat. Besides his developments behind the scene for other brands, Krayon made a remarkable debut with the mindbogglingly complex Everywhere, the first mechanical watch able to compute the sunrise and sunset times everywhere on the globe. This impressive world-first earned Krayon a well-deserved accolade at the GPHG 2018 with the Innovation Prize. Maillat sits at an interesting intersection at watchmaking. His watches are classic and, at the same time, profoundly modern and innovative. On the occasion of a visit to Krayon's new facilities in Neuchatel, we sat for a talk with the independent watchmaker to better understand his work.Xavier Markl, MONOCHROME – How did you become hooked on watchmaking? Raymond Weil Also Announced Leaving Baselworld in 2019 - Monochrome Watches
The?haemorrhage continues for Baselworld, as another mainstream brand has just announced its departure in 2019. According to the Swiss newspaper Le Temps (here, in French), Raymond Weil, which was exhibiting in Hall 1.0 (where all the big brands are located), won’t be present at Baselworld 2019. After Swatch Group took the lead earlier this year by announcing to leave the show, this piece of news sounds like another frontal attack on MCH, the company that owns Baselworld. In all fairness, the impact of?Raymond Weil leaving Baselworld is not the same as Swatch Group announcing its departure from the show. Certainly, Raymond Weil is a smaller brand, which produces around 150,000 watches, priced between CHF 800 and CHF 3,000. Nothing compared to the 18 brands of Swatch Group, its CHF 8 billion turnover and mainly, the CHF 50 million invested by the Group for the Baselworld week. According to its CEO Elie Bernheim, Raymond Weil spends over CHF 1 million in order to exhibit in Basel. T
Introducing the IWC Big Pilot Watch Edition 'Le Petit Prince' - Monochrome-Watches
IWC comes back with a new limited edition, honoring?one of its favorite ambassadors (unfortunately not with us anymore), Antoine de Saint-Exupery, pilot and writer, and its most famous character, ‘le Petit Prince’. Using the same concept as several other editions of the Pilot collection, it is now the Big Pilot that is paying tribute to one of the most classical books of all time. Please welcome the?IWC Big Pilot Watch Edition ‘Le Petit Prince’.Several other watches of the Pilot collection had been used to serve as a tribute to Antoine de Saint-Exupery?and ‘Le Petit Prince’. Remember in 2013, we introduced you to the?IWC Big Pilot Perpetual Calendar and Mark XVII Limited Special Edition ‘Le Petit Prince‘. This year we had the chance to get our hands on the chronograph edition. If you look closely at those 3 watches, they are all sharing a same scheme: pilot watches adorned with a special dial, a distinctive strap and, of course, a casebac
Introducing the Omega Seamaster Diver 300m ETNZ for the 35th America's Cup - Monochrome-Watches
The family of dive watches by Omega is wide, as it includes the both robust and elegant Planet Ocean 600m, the superlative Ploprof 1200m or the vintage-inspired 300 Master Chronometer. Those 3 are the high-end propositions but?the range is also composed of a more affordable and professionally oriented tool-watch, the Seamaster Diver 300m. This legend that exists for ages is now the field for a new special edition celebrating the partnership between Omega, the America’s Cup and the ETNZ (Emirates Team New Zealand) – and it has to be said, this Omega Seamaster Diver 300m ETNZ?is probably one of the best looking Seamaster 300m watches ever. This new Omega Seamaster Diver 300m ETNZ?special edition can be called a Yachting / Regatta watch because of its specific chronograph function. Let us explain what such a watch is. In the world of yachting races, navigators have to aligned on the starting line – like in every race. However, a boat is not static and the starting line ha
