The Ulysse Nardin Marine Chronometer 1186-126-3/43 is a truly fascinating timepiece. It has a 43mm round, 18k rose gold case. The bezel of the watch is fixed and is made from rose gold as well. The dial of the watch is a beautiful metallic blue and is marked with rose gold Roman numerals. The hands of the watch are rose gold as well. Interview - Talking Tokenization of Watches with Huber and VP Bank
I guess you're well aware that we, at MONOCHROME, are not enamoured by watches that comprise something else than gears, pinions, plates, bridges and springs. Nicely finished metallic parts, 100% mechanical. As soon as a battery (or worse) is involved, we're out. Now guess what our first response is to anything blockchain, tokenization and the likes Yet, here's an initiative that somehow sparked our interest, and out of curiosity, we decided to ask some questions before we arrive at our usual conclusion. Why? Well, the first thing that caught my attention was the mention of an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak ref. 14802, with a salmon dial. Let's say that this one topped my personal wish list for many years, and actually, it still does (although, with current prices, it's far out of reach). Huber, a large retailer in Liechtenstein (and for those unfamiliar with Liechtenstein, it's a small principality, located between Switzerland and Austria), together with the VP Bank in Liechtenstein came up
2020 Breitling Chronomat B01 42 "Rouleaux" Bracelet (Price)
The name “Chronomat” can refer to multiple watches at Breitling and holds a significant place in the brand’s history. Of course, the first watch to bear this name was a 1940 Chronograph, which was one of the first watches with a slide-rule bezel. However, for most watch enthusiasts the name Chronomat refers to an icon of the 1980s, to one of Breitling’s most powerful designs. And today, the brand is bringing it back with an eye-catching case, the signature Rouleaux bracelet and several limited editions, including the “Frecce Tricolori”. Meet the 2020 Breitling Chronomat B01 42 Collection.Quick ReminderBreilting’s history has a lot to do with pilot’s watches and chronographs. One of the most important watches in the entire brand’s lineage was created mid-20th century, as one of the earliest watches with a slide-rule bezel, a tool that helps pilots to perform calculations while flying. Following a 1940 patent for the design of a rotat
Hands-On - The TAG Heuer Monaco Purple Dial Limited Edition (Opinion)
There’s no denying that?the new TAG Heuer Monaco Purple Dial is bold and polarising. It creates strong and partial emotions. It’s far from making unanimity, it’s far from the classic codes of sports watches. It is pretty special, period. We introduced the watch about a week ago, and when our editor Erik wrote his article, he remained pretty neutral. It is indeed hard to judge a watch of this kind only on press images and 3D renderings. But now, we had the chance to get our hands on an example of the Purple Monaco… and it’s time to answer the question; has TAG Heuer gone too far this time, or has it created a super-cool watch for a niche audience? Let’s find out.?The most classic edition of the TAG Heuer Monaco, with its blue panda dial.First of all, rest assured. If you are on the market for something more classic, less polarising, and more in line with the usual style you expect from such a watch, the Monaco is still available as part of the permane
Cuervo y Sobrinos Historiador Pequenos Segundos // Review, Price
Cuba isn't the first place that comes to mind when you think about watchmaking. Cuervo y Sobrinos is arguably the only luxury watch brand with true Latin roots, born in Havana's San Rafael Avenue. Now headquartered in Le Noirmont, Switzerland, the brand combines contemporary Swiss craftsmanship with design inspiration from Havana's golden years. The Historiador Peque?os Segundos was inspired by a vintage company piece from 1946, but also carries a modern vibe with both classic and edgy design elements. Let's look at a deceptively conservative piece that celebrates the Latin spirit. ?BACKGROUNDFounded in 1882, Cuervo y Sobrinos quickly became known for both fine jewellery and watches. The name is derived from Armando R¨ªo Cuervo, who in 1900 worked with his family to expand his uncle's company – Cuervo y Sobrinos translates to Cuervo and Nephews. In 1920, the brand expanded to Europe, networking in Pforzheim, Germany and on Rue Mezlay in Paris. A production site would be set up a d
Vacheron Constantin Les Cabinotiers Westminster Sonnerie Vermeer
With Les Cabinotiers, its special-order department, Vacheron Constantin keeps the tradition of offering clients the opportunity to create made-to-measure watches alive. While confidentiality surrounds the majority of these special requests, we managed to get permission from the client to take a look at a recent, major bespoke creation. And at a time when pocket watches may seem obsolete to many, at a time of mass-produced everything, it is pleasing to see that a brand and a watch enthusiast can still embark on a project spanning more than eight years and counting on highly skilled professionals and craftsmen to give birth to such a watch Of course, you can tell the time by glancing at your phone or your smartwatch, but Les Cabinotiers Westminster Sonnerie “Tribute to Johannes Vermeer” Pocket Watch tells more than just time.?Indeed, this spectacular pocket watch is a testimony of human ingenuity, art and creativity. Commissioned by a collector whose “passion consists i
