A. Lange & Sohne Lange 1 Time Zone 25th-Anniversary (Specs & Price)
The Lange 1 is the foundation watch of the Saxon brand's renaissance. Presented on 24th October 1994, along with three other inaugural models, the Lange 1 best encapsulates the spirit of the brand. With its multiple references to the original 19th-century Lange watchmaking adventure in Dresden, its asymmetric dial and hallmark outsize date, the Lange 1 has become the most recognised face of the brand. This year marks the 25th?anniversary of the icon and ALS has decided to celebrate this landmark with not one, not two, but ten-anniversary pieces! So that none of the excitement is lost, the watches are being unveiled one by one. The fifth model is the Lange 1 Time Zone, a white gold GMT watch designed for globetrotters. The longest birthday party Do you remember the scene in Walt Disney's Alice in Wonderland when the Mad Hatter and the March Hare are singing a very merry unbirthday to you? The idea behind this nonsense song is that since we only have one birthday a year, the remaining 364
First Look: The IWC Portugieser Hand-Wound Tourbillon Day & Night
The Portugieser is one of IWC‘s oldest ambassadors, and the collection hosts more haute horlogerie models than any other family in the lineup. What unites all these manifestations, from the simplest to the most complex, is the distinctive look of the Portugieser with its clean, well-organised, legible dials and large dimensions. Tourbillons are no strangers to the collection, but the model IWC is releasing at Watches and Wonders 2024 is accompanied by a novel globe-shaped night and day indicator, further animating the action on deck. Meet the new Portugieser Hand-Wound Tourbillon Day & Night. The Portugieser Hand-Wound Tourbillon joined the collection in 2021. Although it was not the first tourbillon regulator in the range – there were plenty of those married to other complications – it earned the distinction of being the simplest tourbillon of them all. Longines Heritage Classic Tuxedo Chronograph (Specs & Price)
We’ve said it already and we’ll probably say it again, but Longines is on fire when it comes to its “Heritage” collection, with many handsome, highly desirable vintage-inspired watches launched in the past couple of years. Think about the Heritage Classic Sector Dial, the recently revamped Avigation Watch Type A-7 1935 or the Heritage Military RAF. Among these modern models inspired by historical pieces, there was one that really caught our attention: the Longines Heritage Classic Tuxedo Chronograph. And today we give it some wrist time.?Presented earlier this year along with a small seconds version, the Longines Heritage Classic Tuxedo Chronograph is, as you would have guessed, a modern re-edition of a historical Longines watch. Founded in 1832, Longines is one of the oldest brands of the Swiss watch industry still active today. As such, you can imagine that its heritage collection is big and constitutes an immense source of inspiration for today's designers. T
Montblanc TimeWalker Rally Timer Chronograph Limited Edition 100 Pre-SIHH 2018 - Hands-On (Specs & Price)
Last year, at the SIHH 2017, Montblanc introduced an entire collection focused on sports, the new Timewalker. The main source of inspiration for this collection was certainly Motorsport… But that was just a fraction of where these watches came from. In fact, there’s a longer story behind them, as the?TimeWalker collection takes its DNA from early stop-watches made by Minerva (now owned by Montblanc) made for gentlemen drivers. On top of the range was a proper tribute piece, the?Montblanc TimeWalker Rally Timer Chronograph, and this exact same stop-watch, with superb movement, is now coming with a new, slightly vintage “reverse-panda” style. While almost the entire TimeWalker collection was focussed on modernity (even though things are slightly changing this year), with sports watches featuring modern diameters, modern displays, modern colours and modern materials, the roots of this collection are to be found in Minerva’s past, at a time when gentlemen drive
Oris Artelier Complication Redesigned 2017 (Specs & Price)
While Oris?might be famous for its dive watches, such as the Aquis or the hype Divers Sixty Five, there’s another collection in the catalogue that is far from lacking interest; the?Artelier range. Offering?the same overall quality at?an affordable price as the rest of the watches produced by the brand, the Artelier collection is a?more elegant and complex (relatively-speaking) offering. For 2017, one of Oris’ defining movements is encased in a redesigned watch, the new?Oris Artelier Complication. With the original version of this watch, Oris was ahead of the curve, for two reasons. First of all, it?launched “The Complication” back in 1991,?at a time when the Swiss watch industry was slowly recovering from the troubles of the Quartz Crisis, and at a time when complicated watches, with a classic look were probably not really trendy. Secondly, with this watch, Oris helped pioneer?the concept of affordable luxury. The watch offered a lot, both technically and visuall
