A. Lange & Sohne 1815 Homage to Walter Lange with Stoppable Jumping Second Limited Editions in 3 Colours of Gold and a Stainless Steel Unique Piece - Monochrome Watches
In January 2017, one of the greatest and humblest men I had the chance to meet, Mister Walter Lange (1924-2017), founder of A. Lange & Sohne, sadly passed away. In honour of its founder, the Saxon manufacture is enlarging its 1815 collection with the?1815 Homage to Walter Lange. Inside this watch is a surprising and unexpected complication: a?stoppable jumping seconds hand that dates back to a 150-year-old invention conceived by Ferdinand Adolph Lange. There will be three limited editions in yellow, rose and white gold, and one piece unique in stainless steel… all four are future collector’s watches, and the steel version will is the grail!?An Homage to Herr Walter Lange and his contribution to the German Watchmaking IndustryWalter Lange (1924-2017), founder of A. The Alpina Seastrong Diver Heritage - a Vintage Inspired Diver Full of Character - Monochrome Watches
The Alpina Diver Heritage, a homage?to the vintage Alpina Seastrong 10, is another retro re-edition of an old vintage diver ‘Super Compressor’ model from?the 1970’s. I think that in this case it’s fair to say Alpina has chosen wisely in?responding to the vintage-inspired trend, a strategy successfully adopted by many other brands already. So, what is the Seastrong, and how?does it stack up in this crowded segment of the market? Monochrome dives into the world of Alpina and the new Seastrong Diver Heritage to find out.?Alpina – The CompanyAlpina Watches is one of those Swiss manufacturers that is?perhaps not at the forefront of the industry in terms of exposure however, it?has a story that deserves to be told. Hands-On: The Salmon Art-Deco Cartier Tank Americaine in Platinum
The name Tank at Cartier means far more than just a watch… It’s an entire range of watches, all distinguished by some design elements first defined by the so-called Tank Normale of 1917. From there, the collection expanded to dozens of designs, such as the Tank Louis Cartier, the Cintree, the Fran?aise and the Asymetrique, just to name a few. In 2023, Cartier relaunched the Tank Americaine, a Tank watch with an elongated and curved rectangular case, first introduced in 1989. The return was made with ultra-classic versions in steel or gold, with white dials. But some months ago, without making much noise about it, the brand unveiled a pair of precious versions with Art-Deco sector dials, including this handsome platinum-salmon version.?The Tank Americaine might not be the most popular model in the brand’s collection – the Louis Cartier holds the title. It’s also a watch that can, in a way, easily be confused with the Tank Cintree. But it shouldn’t. De
Video TAG Heuer Monaco Heuer 02 (Specs & Price)
When you talk classics, icons of watchmaking, emblematic models, TAG Heuer has more than one model that fits the bill. There are, of course, the Carrera and the Autavia. Still, the most recognisable watch, the watch with the most character is the Monaco thanks to its unusual yet signature square-shaped case. Even though it was not really a hit in the early 1970s, it became far more appreciated when it was relaunched in the late 1990s, and since then has gone on to gain its cult status. In fact, there is not just one Monaco. On one side of the tracks is the vintage-inspired Calibre 11 – the Steve McQueen – and on the other is a more modern take, which used to be the Calibre 12… With the evolution of the Monaco, the days of Calibre 12 are gone.?For more than twenty years, the Monaco has been powered by outsourced movements, modular chronographs based on ETA ebauches. Whether you looked at the Calibre 11 and its crown at 9 o’clock, or the classic Calibre 12 with it
Introducing: The New Tudor Pelagos Ultra 1,000m
The Tudor Pelagos was released 13 years ago, under the reference 25500TN. A highly capable diver made of titanium, it was the brand’s answer to the Sea-Dweller, a true tool for diving, with a proper instrument-like design. This 500m dive watch has evolved over the years, receiving a manufacture movement and a blue dial in 2015, a lefty version (LHD) in 2016, and a 39mm no-date version in 2022. And that’s without counting the FXD editions for the Marine Nationale?or the Cycling Edition chronograph. This year, Tudor releases the top-of-the-range version, a titanium 1,000m model that benefits from the streamlined look of the Pelagos 39 and a METAS-certified movement. Meet the Tudor Pelagos Ultra. The Pelagos Ultra, as you’ve guessed from its name, is nothing more than a beefed up version of the traditional Pelagos dive watch, capable of resisting to greater depths. As such, the basics are still present and the Pelagos Ultra is still made out of titanium, with a full satin
