Review: The A. Lange & Sohne Lange 1 Time Zone in Platinum
In 2020, after 15 years of production and many variations, the Lange 1 Time Zone received a highly anticipated update. It was introduced in three different versions: cases crafted from yellow gold (limited to 100), pink gold, and white gold, with champagne, argente and black dials, respectively. This new model came with a fresh calibre and featured a more organised and streamlined indication layout while retaining its fundamental design elements. This summer, A. Lange & Sohne introduced a platinum Lange 1 Time Zone version with a rhodium-coloured dial, prompting us to conduct a thorough review of what has to be called the traveller's stealth.BackgroundIn October next year, A. Lange & Sohne will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the original Lange 1 watch’s introduction to the public (24 October 1994). In a concise span, this stunning timepiece became an instantly recognisable and coveted item, essentially becoming the face of A. Lange & Sohne and lending its name to a
MONOCHROME Wishes You a Splendid 2021 - Monochrome Watches
2020… What a year… what a year! Both on a professional as well as on a personal level this was a bizarre year, and not only due to that nasty Corona pandemic that is terrorizing humankind. Politics also reared its most ugly head on various sides of the globe and Baselworld, an old watch institution, fell apart. And let’s not forget the extreme fires that raged in Australia at the beginning of the year. What a year…?Usually when looking back at a year, it’s easy to focus on the best, coolest, most novel and most interesting watches that we’ve seen in a year. But this year is different. Of course, MONOCHROME is here to entertain you with news, reviews and in-depth stories from the world of watches. We, or actually I, cannot look at this year only from that perspective. 2020 started in the midst of the extreme bushfires that raged through Australia and we, like most of our online colleagues and many watch brands, supported the Watch & Act! Record Results for LVMH in 2019, Strong Growth For Bvlgari and Hublot
Year after year, the publication of the annual results of LVMH is no more a surprise… Growth has become the norm for the world’s largest luxury group, which operates in multiple businesses such as fashion, wine, perfumes, selective retailing and, of course, watches and jewellery – the group is the owner of Bvlgari, Hublot, TAG Heuer, Zenith and, a recent deal, the integration of Tiffany & Co. (which will be effective mid-2020). As for 2019 results, LVMH recorded revenue of €53.7 billion in 2019, up 15%, and organic revenue growth was 10%. Impressive numbers, yet the situation has to be nuanced, depending on the business units and the regions. There’s no debating the constant growth of LVMH’s revenues, without even accounting for the recently acquired companies. Even without them, the group continues its progression both for revenues and profits – both were up 15% between 2018 and 2019, with an impressive net profit of 13% of the revenues. Bernard
Forza Ferrari, Forza Hublot - Hublot Big Bang Ferrari Speciale Ceramic (live photos, specs and price) - Monochrome-Watches
While Hublot celebrates 10 years of the iconic Big Bang line with a series of 10 unique Haute Joaillerie Big Bang Unico creations priced at 1 million USD each, they are also releasing a new Big Bang Ferrari Speciale model which is definitely more suited for everyday wear. Available in two editions, black ceramic with red, white and blue details, or grey ceramic with grey and white details, it pays tribute to one of the very best of the Cavalino Rampante's creations: the Ferrari 458 Speciale. The Hublot Big Bang Ferrari Speciale Ceramic, in either of the two color options is still a very outspoken watch, not in the least bit due to its size. It is not something for gents who prefer to fly under the radar. When compared to the car it is linked to, this shouldn't be a problem since both are quite ostentatious creations?in their own right. First Look: The Kauri Regulateur Carbone, A Modern Retrograde Minute & Jumping Hour Regulator
Kauri is an independent watchmaking brand recently founded by Samuel Gillioz. This young watchmaker studied at the ecole d'Horlogerie de Geneve before gaining experience at Timelab and Vacheron Constantin in the highly respected Cabinotiers workshop. In 2019, Samuel Gillioz launched Kauri with the vision of creating something unique and original. The main specificity of his first model was its case, which combined steel and wood. The second model advances in complexity, retaining the distinctive case concept – this time with a carbon-based material – while introducing a movement featuring an in-house designed and manufactured complication, a regulator with jumping hours and retrograde minutes. Meet the Kauri Regulateur Carbone.Samuel Gillioz set up his small atelier in Plan-Les-Ouates in a building between the HQs of Vacheron Constantin, Piaget and Frederique Constant. There, he works with his machines, a Schaublin 102 lathe from 1949 and an Aciera F1 milling machine from 1
