Baselworld Will Be Back in 2022... But It Will Be Very Different - Monochrome Watches
What has just been announced by the MCH Group, the company behind the Basel watch fair, came as a surprise. We thought and even announced that Baselworld had gone, replaced by another show called Hour Universe. Baselworld was held for the last time in 2019. Seriously hit by the coronavirus pandemic and the departure of most of the large exhibiting brands, the organisation cancelled the 2020 and 2021 editions. However, the MCH Group has just officially announced that the show will be back with its historical name but makes clear that Baselworld 2022, expected in March/April next year, won’t be the same as past editions of the fair.?As Michel Loris-Melikoff, Managing Director of the show, explains, “the Baselworld brand must remain, but it must fundamentally change“. On both statements, we couldn’t agree more. While we’re quite happy to see the return of the emblematic watch fair, it has to change drastically… In fact, it is forced to change since most
Cartier's in-house Chronograph movement - Calibre de Cartier Chronograph - Monochrome Watches
In 2010 Cartier introduced the Calibre de Cartier featuring Cartier’s in-house movement?caliber 1904-PS, a solid base movement that found its way into the new Tank Anglaise as well. Last week Cartier introduced their new in-house chronograph movement, caliber 1904-CH, in a watch with the familiar Calibre de Cartier case and face.?This is of course very different from the classic elegant Cartier mono-poussoir models from the esteemed CPCP collection, however a great next step for Cartier’s mainstream collection. This is the new Calibre de Cartier Chronograph with caliber 1904-CH movement. Ad - Scroll to continue with article I think it’s justified to call this movement, Cartier’s first ‘normal’ in-house chronograph movement, putting aside the exotics from their Fine Watchmaking collection. The previous Cartier chronograph watch

Introducing: TAG Heuer x Hodinkee Carrera Chronograph Seafarer
In the past, our friends at Hodinkee have collaborated with TAG Heuer to create exciting timepieces like the Carrera Skipper and Carrera Dato. This year, they present a fresh take on the iconic Abercrombie & Fitch Seafarer, which Heuer produced for the American retailer from the 1950s until the mid-1970s. We gladly present the new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Seafarer x Hodinkee - this contemporary interpretation faithfully pays homage to the original reference 2444C, introduced shortly before the model was discontinued after two decades of experiments with cases and dials. The original Heuer-made Abercrombie & Fitch branded SeafarerFor the revival of the Seafarer, the 42mm Carrera “Glassbox” case was chosen, featuring a more durable and transparent domed sapphire crystal that mimics the profile of a vintage plexiglass crystal. The finely brushed and polished case has a display caseback, a signed fluted crown at 3 o’clock, and retro-styled chronograph pushers.
First Look: The Lightweight Maurice Lacroix Aikon Automatic in Titanium
Integrated sports watches have been a hit since the 1970s when the Royal Oak and Nautilus changed everything, and affordable options are all the rage today. Look no further than Tissot's PRX Powermatic 80 as an example. Maurice Lacroix's Aikon Automatic perhaps does it best with a masterful combination of luxury and attainability. Usually comprised of stainless steel, the collection has strayed into bronze on rare occasions and also titanium for an Automatic Chronograph, but the latest titanium Aikon Automatic models are a first for the series and a logical, lightweight addition. The Aikon was introduced in 2016, but the mechanical automatic launched two years later in 2018 (and you know we're all about mechanical watches at MONOCHROME). It's certainly a diverse collection with many dial variants, complications, case sizes and materials, but the classic time and date models are the core of the collection. It has a distinctive style that's easily recognizable as a Maurice Lacroix and is
