Omega Seamaster Diver 300M 007 Edition - Review, Price
This is it The big news for Omega, the new James Bond watch! After a limited 007 edition based on the Seamaster Diver 300M celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 1969 film On Her Majesty's Secret Service, it is time for the real deal, the watch to be worn in the 25th opus of the 007 series, No Time to Die. And with its new titanium case, its military elements on the dial and caseback, its reference to the British army, its highly vintage inspiration, the Omega?Seamaster Diver 300M 007 Edition makes quite an impression – and it’s in for the long run because it's not a limited edition.Omega and James Bond 007Since Goldeneye (1995), movie franchise James Bond relies on Omega to provide the official timepiece worn by the secret agent. Not only an accessory but a real part of Bond's equipment, the Seamaster has enjoyed some pretty high-profile appearances – something we examined closely in this retrospective article. The Collector's Series - Gavin Foo and his more-than-special Cabestan Luna Nera - Monochrome-Watches
He's a father, part of the Deployant.com team and collector. An interesting fact about Gavin Foo (that he happened to mention before our interview), is that despite his best efforts, he still can't seem to complete level 53 of Metal Gear Solid V Good to know Oh, and in his collection, he happens to own the mind-blowingly cool Cabestan Luna Nera.So for those of you new to Cabestan let's start from the beginning. It is an independent Swiss watch manufacture nestled in the heart of the Jura Mountains, in the cradle of watchmaking, the Vallee de Joux. Since 2003, Cabestan have been developing stunning timepieces with a focus on their vertical oriented movement. The Luna Nera was created in 2013 and is limited to a series of 135 timepieces. It is the result of Eric Coudray's (master-watchmaker) imagination. He has managed to achieve what very few watchmakers have ever been able to achieve. He has combined by the vertical capstan wheels, chain and fuse, with a glorious moon phase in 3-dimensi
Hands-On - Patek Philippe Annual Calendar 5205G Gradient Blue Dial (Specs & Price)
Blue dials have been popular for some time now. So much so, that they have almost become the rule instead of the exception. To stand out from the crowd with a blue dial nowadays, you are going to have to pull off something special. That's exactly what Patek Philippe has done with the latest iteration of its reference 5205G. Although not a new watch per se, the addition of a mouth-wateringly delicious blue gradient dial has reinvented this model in my eyes, driving its desirability factor through the roof. We spent some time hands-on with this watch recently, and let me tell you, the only thing harder than capturing the gorgeous blue tones was giving it back.If you're a watchmaking devotee, then you no doubt already know that Patek Philippe invented and patented the Annual Calendar complication back in 1996. More functional than a standard calendar, and more accessible than a perpetual calendar, it can automatically account for the difference in the number of days in each month (with th
A Letter From The Editor - Monochrome Watches
It’s been a pleasure to see the number of readers increase every month and I always enjoy your emails, responses and reactions through all our social media channels. Thank you for that! Since Monochrome has started, back in 2006, it has been a thrill to see Monochrome grow to become one of the defining blogs (or online magazines) about watches. And as you know, we focus mainly on (ultra) Haute Horlogerie and Independent Watchmaking. My latest acquisition perfectly fits the bill. It is a vintage Patek Calatrava ref. 3484 that I bought it for a special occasion. Read on to find out what that special occasion was and to read more news about Monochrome.I have been looking to get a dot.com ever since the beginning, however the owner of monochrome.com didn’t want to relinquish that domain. So the search went on and in a few weeks we’ll be migrating monochrome-watches.com to monochrome-watches.com. And there will be more, like a new video page, a web shop, loads of reviews (
