Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon GMT 26589IO
Watch legends are tough acts to follow. The groundbreaking Royal Oak of 1972, Gerald Genta's luxury steel sports watch that founded an entirely new genre, was revisited in 1993 with the Royal Oak Offshore provoking as disparate reactions as the original. Thirty years later, in 2002, another collection known as the Royal Oak Concept saw the light. This powerful collection with its deconstructed architecture firmly plants the Royal Oak in the 21st century. Innovative materials and complex openworked architecture are trademark features of the Royal Oak Concept that attires its Flying Tourbillon GMT in shades of blue and grey.A mighty Royal OakThe Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon GMT made its debut two years ago in a darker version with sandblasted titanium and a brushed black ceramic bezel. The latest models share exactly the same specifications but come in new colour schemes; one in monochromatic grey tones and the other with vivid blue accents. Ad - Scroll to continue with
Interview - Talking To Remi Maillat, The Man Behind Krayon Watches
Independent watchmaker Krayon was created a few years ago by Remi Maillat. Besides his developments behind the scene for other brands, Krayon made a remarkable debut with the mindbogglingly complex Everywhere, the first mechanical watch able to compute the sunrise and sunset times everywhere on the globe. This impressive world-first earned Krayon a well-deserved accolade at the GPHG 2018 with the Innovation Prize. Maillat sits at an interesting intersection at watchmaking. His watches are classic and, at the same time, profoundly modern and innovative. On the occasion of a visit to Krayon's new facilities in Neuchatel, we sat for a talk with the independent watchmaker to better understand his work.Xavier Markl, MONOCHROME – How did you become hooked on watchmaking? The Petrolhead Corner - Two rather unique Ferrari's up for grabs
Clad in dramatic Rosso Corsa, donning the yellow-and-black Prancing Horse logo, and fitted with a high-performance engine, preferably in the back, there’s just something mystical and evocative about a Ferrari. Even when that Ferrari was never raced like it was intended to do, or a painstaking, home-built replica of a car that doesn’t exist anymore. And yes, the latter would never pass as a genuine Ferrari to purists, but if it’s done to this level, I feel it is deserving of the name regardless. In today’s episode of The Petrolhead Corner, we take a look at two very specific cars carrying the Cavallino Rampante; a recreation of the Ferrari 156 Sharknose, and the wild Ferrari 288 GTO Evoluzione.Brandon Hegedus behind the wheel of his home-built Ferrari 156 Sharknose replica – Road&track.comThe 1961 Ferrari 156 F1 SharknoseIt’s not the first time we investigate this legendary car, as it was featured in an episode of The Petrolhead Corner before, and
Tudor Black Bay Ceramic One M7921 for Only Watch 2019 - Hands-On
Among the many unique pieces introduced for Only Watch 2019, there was one surprising watch, made by Tudor, in an unprecedented colour scheme and material. Based on the signature Black Bay model, the brand presented the first full-black, ceramic version of this popular dive watch. We had the chance to have this watch in our hands and we wanted to share this with you… but also to talk about future, as we know that Tudor’s unique pieces for Only Watch can sometimes lead to more than just one watch! The Tudor Black Bay Ceramic OneLet’s get straight to the point… This watch is black, really black. Clearly, Tudor’s intention wasn’t to offer optimal legibility here (p.s. it is one of the most complex watches we recently had to photograph). Everything in this watch is black or dark grey and most of the watch is treated with matte surfaces. Stealth mode activated! Ad - Scroll to continue with article
