SIHH 2019 - IWC Pilots Watch Automatic Spitfire IW326801 and IW326802 (Hands-On, Specs & Price)
With its focus on military/pilot watches for the SIHH 2019, IWC has launched two 3-hand pilot's watches under the Spitfire sub-range. These could have been simple evolutions of the standard Pilot's Watch Mark XVIII, but there are multiple updates on the model and all models will coexist alongside the Mark XVIII. In the same vein as the?Bronze Chronograph unveiled a few weeks ago, meet the smaller and vintage-inspired IWC Pilot's Watch Automatic Spitfire Bronze or Steel for SIHH 2019.A vintage (and probably field-tested) IWC Mark XI, the inspiration for most IWC pilot’s watches.Inspired by the original and legendary IWC Mark XI (a blueprint for IWC pilot's watches), which was introduced in 1948 for the British RAF (Royal Air Force) and the FAA (Fleet Air Arm), the new Pilot's Watch Automatic Spitfire models are smaller than the Mark XVIII and simplified three-hand versions of the Pilot's Watch Chronograph Spitfire Bronze. The new IWC Pilot's Watch Automatic Spitfire will be availab
Hands-On - The new Longines 1832 Moon Phase (Specs & Price)
Longines has created a new family of watches with the simple name of 1832. Up till now, there was only a three-hands and date in the collection, but today we have a new model that I believe is going to be successful: the Longines 1832 Moon Phase. The number corresponds to the year of Longines’ foundation, and we have to be thankful for the brief name – we all know the Swiss tendency to give watches never-ending names (for instance). In spite of the name, the two models in this new collection are not recreations of historic models or even models from the first half of the last century; that is the job of the Heritage collection. In this case, we are looking at models with a touch of 1950s and 1960s design inspiration. It is true that inside the Heritage family, there are watches with this inspiration, but I understand Longines’ idea is to avoid a hotchpotch of styles that in the end only creates confusion. The Auction Hammer: Bonhams to auction Reinhard Furrer Omega Speedmaster Professional NASA 145.022 - Monochrome-Watches
The Omega Speedmaster is getting more and more under?the scope of collectors. For a few years now, some of the rare editions have been?able to reach 40,000Eur or more. This is all due to a long and rich history, to a continuous production since 1957 and to the Space and Moon exploration. At Monochrome-Watches, the ‘Speedy‘ has always been one of our favorites, as we’ve been the very first to reveal you about?the watches worn by Aldrin and Armstrong during Apollo 11 Mission. Don’t expect to see such watches on auction soon – that would be an unaffordable dream. Bonhams however will soon auction another true astronaut watch, the?Reinhard Furrer Omega Speedmaster Professional, one of the very few to come with a radial dial.?Reinhard Furrer?(November 25, 1940 - September 9, 1995) was a German physicist and astronaut.?In 1977 Furrer applied for selection as an astronaut for the first Spacelab mission. He was finally selected for a space mission and?had been a p
Tudor Glamour Double Date 42mm Manufacture Movement 57100/57103 (Specs & Price)
When the name Tudor is mentioned, models such as “Black Bay” or “Pelagos” spring to mind. For sure, the brand communicated (and created) a lot on these products – which are admittedly?great watches. However, there are more watches in the collection than these sporty, vintage-inspired pieces – and that includes, for instance, the “Style“, the recently introduced “1926” or the Glamour – a watch that remained under the radar for us… Until now. Today, the brand unveils a redesigned and slightly more masculine version of this watch, now equipped with a brand new version of the manufacture movement. Meet the?Tudor Glamour Double Date ref. 57100/57103.?Up until now, the Tudor?Glamour had been entirely in the shadows of the BB, Pelagos and other sports models of Tudor. It was one of those watches that didn’t really capture our attention, mainly because the brand didn’t communicate about it. However, Tudor today
Tissot Gentleman Two-Tone Collection - Monochrome Watches
We all know that the real watch war is not waged for the throne of high complications, but for the far simpler three-hand and date models. Wristwatches are celebrating their first century of existence (they became popular after the WW1) and the idea that they are mainly a tool to accomplish a basic function (telling the time) has prevailed since then. That is the only information – along with the date – that more than 90% watch buyers are looking for. And they want it in round cases too. Once they have acquired the watch, it is going to be the only one they have and use for many years. That is why this segment of the market wants the watch to be as versatile as possible, so that they can use it on every occasion. And all that must be paired with an affordable price. This is the stark truth of the watch business, and this is why the Tissot Gentleman has a lot to offer. You can have a wristwatch made of solid gold (not gold plated), with a precise and reliable calibre and look
